I think it might have been my vote that pushed it over at around 11:50pm. When I looked it was still neck and neck. So I thought I better throw my vote in (despite me saying I wouldn't in protest).

For me the Invacars is a great thread, but Estate of the Nation was slightly above as this forum is about cars. Cars are things that are driven around and used for transport. Estate of the Nation had that, while the Invacars aren't capable of that just yet. However there is always 2018! :)

I still think Vulgarlours Austin 1100 thread needed to be on the list and still is my favourite thread of this year. I reckon only not on the list as it wasn't posted on in December and so forgotten.

Well done H-K! :-) The collection thread for Cedric was fantastic and there were some first class photos in there too.

A suitable trophy is being sourced and will be winging it's way to you soonish ...

We have also taken on board the suggestions put forward and will implement some of them for next year

Congrats! Worthy winner, also has now set the bar impossibly high for collection threads, top work!

I'm an idiot. I voted for the winner! Well done Heidel. Thoroughly deserved I have to say. A truly remarkable caper.

Despite a few notable flounces and bannings, IMO there has been some fantastic reading on the forum this past year. Well done to HK and to all the other contributors.

Probs not the thread for it but thanks to those who saved the forum from the iceberg collision earlier in the year.

On the downside, I hate to think how many hours I spent on here!

Well played, and as above it shows there's still a lot of brilliant threads on here. Also worth noting there were many more that could have been nominated, so here's to 2018's list being even bigger and better.

I would a agree with that.

The problem is the signal to noise ratio is high.

Well done. Some great threads and I'm not even half way through yet!

This is the best forum ever. Whenever I think I have the old car bug pretty bad I come on here and I feel a lot better...

Worth worthy winner, and has been said the list of nominees is evidence that this place isn't what it used to be... it gets better!

Well this is a great honour :) Never did I think I would do something worthy of thread of the year! The amount of truly excellent threads floating around here at the moment leads me to believe we are in a golden age of Autoshite and long may it continue.

I'm amazed my rusty pile of metal made the list at all!  Glad the forum finds it interesting and it certainly helps keep the welding motivation going.  With any luck 2018 will see the car in paint.

Cheers

Tune into the FM broadcast of it if you can, it's better than the MW.
