an i hope the new forth bridge, the new one, built out of cheap chinky monkey metal lasts no where near as long.

there is a backlog of maintenance on road bridges all over the country, thanks to little or no planned works and no money been spent on the upkeep of these structures for the last 30 odd years.

Voicemail off warranty direct today to let me know that I have to pay only £50.00 , my excess towards my £1187.00 modern repair. I ring the main dealer to be told NO you need to pay £387.00 towards the cost because warranty direct will only pay trade price for parts and labour so I have to make up the difference in the retail price. So when they say covered for the full cost in the adverts they are liar liar pants on fire. I will have to pay it has I have put a deposit on a new modern and need to trade mine in . Going back to Japanese reliability, just hope new mazdas don't rust like my old ones did.

It's windy!  Mike and I just got back to see a big chunk of our front fence smash into our neighbour's car!

Remember the oversize 944 pistons and piston rings?

They've arrived as promised from Germany.

Bored, I played with maths....

Bog 944 - 100mm bore - a bit of pye R squared, times 78.9 stroke X 4 pots equals 2479 - OK.

100.48 gives 2503cc - which is quite astonishing,

Does anyone think I should try to explain it to Aviva?

no.

the drone that you will be speaking too on the phone in bangalore will not be able to follow one word of what you are saying.

Bloomin' eck!  Wind's after the back fence now and has bent a couple of panels and broken a join on the brand new fence.  The neighbour's fence the other side which is older and quite sturdy is also bowed with the force of the wind.

That's the problem- train the dogs to bite the tradesmen!

Did they actually do a proper job though? The tradesmen, not the dogs.

|\Seem to have. You get a print out of before and after readings and it seems to be in spec now. They did piss about with the drivers seat though so it was so close to the wheel I could hardly get in. Ha ha ha, what a bunch of merry japesters :)

Did they also tune all the radio presets to Radio 2 so you get the delights of Vanessa Feltz at this time on a Saturday morning?

Took the Bentley to have its tracking done at AMS who were recommended - full Hunter 4 wheel alignment and all that guff. A more surly rude bunch of arses I have yet to meet!

Fortunately, I had the dogs with me (as always) and little fat Chester surreptitiously pee'd on their stacks of new tyres. In the showroom. I did not tell him off!

You should drive up to Tiverton and visit ATS. They are the most polite bunch of blokes ever, and always do a top job. However I have had tyres off the internet. Cheap, but you have to have them fitted at national tyres in Tiverton. There is a bloke there who is rude to the point of being funny in a Basil Fawlty sort of way.

Last day at work today then 8 days off. Bonus points is that the Mrs ISNT off so 8 days of shite fettleing. Happy Christmas indeed!

The Project Drive Rover has just passed its MOT with flying colours.  No advisories and emissions were ridiculously low for a K-series - hydrocarbons were at 5ppm and the CO reading at idle was 0.

That'll do me.

I like the idea of the raffles on here, even though the Belmont one is the first one I've actually wanted to enter. Most of the other cars have either been too new, too grim or diesel (fuel of Satan).

However, I've noticed that there is an issue with having two or more raffles running at the same time. People tend to enter one or the other, meaning both raffles sell limited tickets (about half so far on the Belmont and BX). Would it be an idea to only have one raffle running at a time, so if you've got a car you want to raffle you have to wait until the Saturday when the previous car is finished before listing yours?

Maybe I'm talking nonsense, I dunno. Just seems a shame if these cars aren't shifting the required number of tickets. Or maybe it's just because it's just before Christmas.

Wind chaos is ongoing here.  Next doors Ford Fiesta (I think) copped a big section of the front fence last night which has dented the bonnet and given it some character.  Just snapped the fence posts clean off at ground level.

Back garden isn't faring any better.  Check out the lean on the hedge and the lamp post.  Neighbour has lost a panel and the rest is trying to join it so there's going to be some DIY needed when this all dies down.

The brand new run of fence has also copped it, with at least one of the concrete blobs having cracked with the fence moving about so much.

Whoops!

The already fucked perspex window keeps blowing out the shed. It can stay out for now, theres nothing in there that can't get a bit wet. Keep thinking of just replacing the window with wood but it'll kill all the light.

I'd declare it but let them work it out - i.e. please note the new pistons are 100.48mm.

Had a nice ride out today to collect the 806. Not a very exciting collection and not worthy of a thread of it's own so it can go here.

A not so early start finally managing to drag my arse out of bed for 9.30 To get a lift from my other half's lad. He has only been driving a year and didn't fancy the drive to London so I had to drive the C2.

Nothing very exciting happened on the way down but having a co driver I did get a couple of spots.

Dreadful Chrysler

I love these and will have to get one sooner or later. Anyone got a project one kicking about ? With a V4 would be best for maximum shite points.

Look out the crusty's are coming !!!!!!

post-5515-0-41585100-1449332322_thumb.jpg

That was about it for shite. Collected the 806 from Dieselnutjob cash changed hands paperwork signed and off we went. I didn't bother with the traditional key handover picture as I hate having my picture taken.

No need for a petrol station shot either as it had a full tank of diesel !!!!!! A pretty uneventful trip back just spoiled by the traffic wombles closing 2 lanes for an accident on the M4 the recovery guys had scooped it all up by the time we got there but they still stood in the middle of 2 closed lanes chatting lazy buggers.

My thoughts on the car ? Well it shows it's mileage with a slightly saggy drivers seat but drives spot on and is scruffy enough no one will mess with it. I will get rid of the tint on the front windows though as I am not a lover of tinted front windows.

Easy solution, cut a hole in the piece of wood and put a perspex window in it.

Or get some old louvre doors and make a pair of nice french-style storm shutters to close over it in bad weather.

I have got myself A motoshite and I like it a lot. :-)post-6586-0-52637000-1449335185_thumb.jpg

It's got very comprehensive instrumentation.post-6586-0-72982200-1449335288_thumb.jpg

I had one of these twenty odd years ago, so it is a nostalgia trip. I have also discovered I can't legally ride it. Twenty years ago I stuck L plates on and ran it for around five years. Now I have to do a CBT. Missus Mossy is not happy about me riding it, although she was very happy twenty years ago, when I was working at Jersey European (flybe). They paid crap wages, I think still do. It only cost me about £2.50 worth of fuel a week. I think I used to get around 115 mpg. I digress.

It runs nicely, has a long MOT, but I think I will do a bit of restoration to make it really nice.

Went and had a look at the lacquer peel on the back of the BBR, it's fuck all so I scraped it off and re-lacquired it - looks like it was bad prep or a drop of water on the surface before they sprayed it. So then I checked all the wheel arches which have been rustproofed. I was expecting gungy hands, but no, all done in some sort of shultz and a very neat job it is to!

But, I like waxoyl type stuff! So I have just bought a load of clear stuff from eBay and if it ever stops raining/blowing a fucking gale, I shall do it. While I was on there, I had to add a new card as it's so long since I used the bloody place, all my cards have expired. So, flushed with success at my IT professionalism, I went searching for Alpine head units with the 'M' bit I need. Quite a few on there, but I was expecting an old stereo to be ten, fifteen quid. The cheapest I could find was forty with another tenner for postage!

So I was just about to sack it off and go back to sulking/whinging, when I realised that I have no other option! New stuff doesn't do what I want, so I bought a nice one, not too modern, £52 delivered. Still seems like a shit load of money for a ten/twenty year old head unit, but what do I know?

I daresay after the spend you've had recently even a 10p Fudge would seem exhorbitant.  After the content of your thread, one can appreciate why old money are tight bastards.

You've got to feel for the man, latest issue Range Rover (big un) broke down in the garage i filled up at this evening, AA bloke with his head stuffed in under the drivers side dash, pissed off looking geezer looking on.

Serious number plate on it that must have cost more than my entire fleet over the last 10 years.

If i had that bloke's money the heap would be sitting abandoned outside the RR dealer first thing Monday with a note attached inviting them to poke it where the sun don't shine.

On Wednesday I was supposed to be driving a lady to Worksop in her new Range Rover, when I got to her house she asked if we could go in my car ( suits me ,I charge twice as much!) as the Range Rover had pissed all its coolant out ,again. Third time since she got it in September.

She spoke to the dealer on the way back and they could only give her a Discovery Sport as a loan car , because all their RRs and Sports were out on other warranty jobs, looks like these latest Rangies might be the new P38!
