Has this one got stainless underfloor coolant pipes? I can't recall.

Fingers crossed AF and brother_AF got back alright and the ZX behaved itself well enough to get home.

Yeah it behaved itself.

He says it likes to go but isn't so happy about stopping.

Definitely being saved. Gonna cut up one of the ZXs I saw in the scrappy and fix that sill.

At some point.

Someone has stolen the back bumper off my Aunt's Astra. Whilst it was parked on the drive in front of their house. Why, and how do they do it without needing to get inside?

Either using violence or just crawling underneath and undoing some nuts/bolts probably.... Was the car otherwise damaged in the theft? (Bastards)

no, she came out this morning and it was gone. car ok otherwise. not a rough area either.

When I worked in a panel supply shop I used to get people ring for parts who had their front ends stolen, wings, bumper, lights, bonnet, with no damage to the rest of the car, i used to think why don't the people who steal these parts go and work for insurance repairers, if they can work that quick and quiet without breaking anything they must be great at stripping cars, it was usually stuff like astra sport hatches, audi s line etc where the bumper is slightly different than the run of the mill model

Maybe Cavcraft has nicked it to get it painted for the red astra he is viewing?

^^^ Mileage in 1993 ties up as does the owned by museum bit.

You have to wonder about the sort of person that would risk the 'good' name of their business by clocking 10,000 miles off a Marina though.

Indeed, all a bit suspect.

That's just disgraceful.

In other news, the Nippa now has a full set of winter tyres, though with wind levels rising, perhaps I should have invested in some ground anchors instead.

They were going to check the tracking, but their lovely gauges don't fit the Perodua's tiny wheels.

First impressions are that it no longer seems terrified of apexes, and the extra grip was useful as I swerved around bits of tree that were littering the road. I have a brand new Volkswagen e-UP! to play with at the moment, but there is not a chance I'm leaving the house until this wind goes away. It's horrible!

The only conclusion i can think of is that the auction advert is wrong but i can't see that.

I think the auction advert is wrong, and the 17k mileage is actually on a different car. If you think about it, if it went into the Stondon collection in '94 with 7,800 miles then when would it get enough use to rack up an extra 10k?

Well she is in Wrexham.

Yes. Well not as severe. She only has an Astra as my cousin used to work at Vauxhall before he was made redundant. As he can no longer acquire a part from the stores she's had to go through insurance. £200 xs and loss of 40 years of ncb.

Edit- money she can ill afford since my uncle's death last year.

Had to mess about with the Coupé's immobiliser earlier. Due to the R8's rubbish fob design that has long since died but seemingly opening the passenger door with the key and the bastard.

Battery disconnected with key in the ignition reset it but a worry when used for 4am starts next week.

One of our fitters where I work has a couple of motors for sale.

A Land Rover and a Morris Minor. He wants £1500 for the Minor and it comes with lots of spares.

No idea how much for the Landy.

I have his number if anyone's interested.

New shoes on the saab. At long last.

These new ones have tread and are round!

Got it down to 70 quid a corner fitted for some lovely dunlops. whilst sat waiting for them to be fitted noticed a "cashback for buying dunlops" leaflet - now sent off which should make it 65 quid a corner.

Happy with that.

My Second home is sick. Drove back from heathrow the other night and noticed, when slightly turning left on the motorway a high frequency vibration through the steering wheel. To be honest its probably been there for a while, but just thought it was the road surface. Anyway, two hour break in the weather this morning, some seriously tight bolts later, revealed:post-6586-0-14671200-1447855571_thumb.jpg Totally fu***d bearing.

I have ordered the bits, plus two new discs and pads for less than £100. Bargain! I hope the bearings come already pressed into place. Chucking it down again. Parts should be here tomorrow, lets hope its a bit drier.post-6586-0-22060700-1447856021_thumb.jpg

Thanks to Mr. Our Geezer, I haz a new battery for the meriva of much annoyance! Thanks Tim, I'll return your money next week.

I got 2 parcels though, 1 had the battery in, and a seperate, fully paid up small box with http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/car-parts/car-body-parts-and-car-exhaust/exhausts/exhaust-parts/?997779994&0&in. Noice! (The ice scraper has a chip in the middle, and I find the heavy rubber blade on the back of my old ice scraper better at getting rid of ice but the thought is nice. £19.99 list price though, feck paying that!)

I'll fit it tomorrow, will be dark when I get home tonight. Will be dark when I get home tomorrow thinking about it..
