Finally someone believes me.

So why did you sell the decent one and keep the possessed demon car of doom?

V8 and fewer pedals I'd think. Oh and sills without frills!

I am of the opinion that 2 pedals are fine for bicycles and gokarts but a proper car should have 3. The V8 is a lovely thing though.

Yay! Is it a UK car?.

Yes it is.

I bought it unseen over the phone which we all know was the sensible thing to do.

Garage was very busy, so BX is still flatulent. I am settling back nicely into BX ownership though. Annoying single wiper aside. Engine mount has turned up, so I'm going to brave the cold and the fog and have a go at swapping that, and may then get brave and have a go at the exhaust, even if I have to resort to bean tins and hose clips.

did you break the clock? Or does it just need a bulb or two?

once having spoken to someone and got a feeling for them and the vehicle they're selling, I often have no problems about that. Both the last XM and the 306 cabrio were bought sight unseen, one involving two planes, three countries, umpteen buses and a ferry to collect!

Because I can't square with my conscience to unload it on a hapless chap buying it in good faith.

Also, I'm afraid it would be first degree murder.

The car will kill me eventually and it will die with me.

Also, it's brown and has an orange interior, and I just can't bring myself toward selling something this beautiful*.

Got the Rover back, I'm £550 lighter. HG change turned into a bit of a rebuild. Not as expensive as it might sound. The price included the new" Land Rover" spec HG kit (bolts etc) new rad, waterpump, stat, 2 oil changes, 16 new tappets and proper OAT antifreeze. The car is running beautifully. The chap that did the work is a mate of mine, who has been a mechanic for over 30 years, so I'm well happy overall.

IN OTHER NEWS: We kan haz barn. We need somewhere to keep our OMG auctionshite purchases, and this is 3 minutes walk from my mate's house, and about 5 minutes drive from mine. Farmer Brown is gonna fixorate the hole at the back (at the top, the rectangle is actually a window), otherwise it's weather-tight and has electricity and water. £25 a MONTH. We're keeping them old leather chairs too.

^ dr sauce, that storage seems an absolute bargain! How many vehicles do you think will fit?

Glad to hear the Rover is back to full health.

We reckon on 5 or 6 without stuffing them in too tight, BJ,  and I reckon with 4 or fewer there'd be enough room to do a bit of fettling. If you stand at the door of the barn and look around you'd think you were in the arsehole of nowhere, yet the place is only about half a mile from the main Belfast Road. As well as the chairs, we found some other random crap in there: a glass topped computer desk, which is HUGE and in excellent nick, a Shamen CD, half a gallon of paraffin and a pair of ladies kecks. There's a 500 litre portable water tank in a cage lying round the side as well, which I'm gonna ask if we can have.

I just need to find a Maestro now to put in there...

Haunted Rover of d00m is back, now fitted with two 200psi hydraulic pipes.

The gearbox might have just about made it, apparently it does shift OKish.

Some fine adjustment of the kickdown cable (which is much more than just that on BWs) must still be done.

Looking forward to the act of revenge that evil bastard has plotted now.

It was a lovely old thing, totally original, only an amazing 23000 miles from new and remarkably solid, the underside was was pretty much perfect, the boot was mint, even under the spare wheel, I did put my hand through the front valance, both front wings weren't great, around the headlights were split and bottom of the door were going.

The engine turned over but it hasn't ran since 1987 and it was dry from water meaning the block could be split from frost (though i doubt it) but the interior was mint and completely intact, also one of the rear brakes were locked on.

We made a offer but i think it was too low, 3 other interested parties and a sister to run it through, If i didn't have the Cortina i'd put a bigger offer in but I haven't the money to spend on it at the moment sadly.

The chaps been told it's worth £2-6000 as it is but I've said it's worth nothing like that, his valuation is the same as we offered but understandable he's going to go for the best offer so we'll see.

In other news I fitted new discs and pads to the Acclaim today.

That's the only picture i took but we all know what new discs look like, it now stops much better and without shaking the car to bits which is good and in even further news I got my Focus home today, £484 lighter and the bastard thing still doesn't start so that will be going back again.

One's i've seen on ebay are around £3-4000 in nice condition, there's a tatty but useable deluxe in Classic Ford mag with moto for £1500.

Those Corsairs are way too stylish for their own good.  Looks like a really lovely example, would love to see it get the Trigger treatment.

Gorgeous isn't it, like a mini Ford Thunderbird, it's quite rare to have all the chrome still too, Most of the body has been caked in old oil to perverse it, I doubt i'll be the lucky winner of it though, Someone with more cash to splash will see the "Ford" and "GT" badges as well as the 23500 miles and will offer much more for it.

If i wasn't in the middle of restoring the Cortina I'd be offering a lot more for it too, The trouble is it ideally needs two new wings, a new valance, the panel above the headlight is bubbled and that's all moulded in, plus you need to factor in new tyres, getting the old V4 to work, rebuild the brakes, that's a lot of time and labour/materials to pay out for.

Scouse reg on that Corsair.

He said the first owner worked for Ford and got it cheap of them, I was expecting a Essex plate.

Been to the Black County Museum for the first time in over 10 years, well worth a day out and they do have a few pieces of random autoshite tucked away.

Well, there is this coarse hair for reference:

It's actually a buy one, get one free auction, since this is included:

Depending on where this auction ends, it could be used as ammunition against the seller of the other one,

whose price idea is a tad out of touch with reality.

New front wing on the Toyota today. God I love the plastic clips that hold pretty much everything together on moderns, like wheel arch liners and the grille. Thankfully I bought a big box of the buggers a few years back so I could replace the ones I broke.

Paint I put on is a good match so just needs a session with 2000 grit and G3 to get the inevitable orange peel out. The only legacy of the bump is the invisible* repair to the split bumper carried out with a soldering iron.

I know ALL MODERNZ IZ SHIT M8 but after 12 years and nearly 200,000 miles the old front wing and the inner wing showed absolutely zero rust, despite me pulling out about five cubic feet of mud from behind the mud flap.

Maybe the first owner worked at Halewood?  Looks like a cracking project, good luck!
