^ that looks a nice motor, why not save yourself the hassle of doing the advert and buy it yourself

Unfortunately I'm out of work again and only have the money I saved from previous jobs to keep myself going (which is probably about the same amount asking for this car). Besides, I've simply not enough space I can afford to keep another car. My plan to clear out the Telford garage has been put to a halt. The 820E will be staying in there until further notice.

I've contacted a few people who may be interested so lets see what happens with that.

Just out of interest, what kind of figure is it likely to be? The 800 coupes (and Tomcats obv) are the only Rovers I'd really love to try one day.

It has been an eventful day. A deadline day no less. First thing, my laptop shat its hard drive, which may or may not be related to my frustrations with Yahoo Mail - they've utterly ruined it and it's now pretty much unusable. Blue screen of death and the hard drive now sounds like a knackered wheel bearing. Kicked my lovely wife of her ancient Toshiba laptop and found my online back-up service had worked a treat. Work saved. Phew! Managed to get it sent off.

Leapt into the 2CV with the hard drive so I could head into town to either get it repaired or replaced. 2CV started beautifully, but when I got to the end of our driveway, the offside indicators packed up. Quick fiddle with the wiring and we were away.

The laptop shop I was going to visit doesn't open on Mondays or Tuesdays. This was going well! Found another one but they wanted £80 to fit a new 500Gb hard drive and get it all working again. Decided to pass and went to find a cup of tea instead.

Got back home, dug an old known-to-be-broken SATA drive out of a pile. Chucked it in my laptop and it very nearly worked! Got as far as the log-on screen then blue screened. Tried using a caddy and a FAT drive to get it to boot, but this was about as effective as running your car on water. Went hunting in the loft and found my old desktop. Proper computer-shite - it's one I built myself using random bit bought from Ebuyer in about 2005. So, I'm back on Windows XP! It's bloody great actually. There's a lot to be said for a proper keyboard, a proper mouse (a TVR with light-up headlamps) and less flashy graphics. The keyboard is a bit battered though - it was the one that came with my Packard Bell computer in about 2000. Feels very nice to use, but bits are missing.

Sadly, the CPU fan is more noisy than a Hercules at full chat, though it probably moves a similar amount of air. Also, it is not as portable as a laptop - I usually retire to the lounge of an evening.

Ian, if you go into settings on Yahoo mail you can get it to something rezembling the original webmail interface and it allows you to open several messages in different tabs. It can take a couple of goes to get your Yahoo to realise that's how you want it, but percy veer.

In other news, seems I have indeed managed to 'sell' the Discovery to a complete twunt. Have found him on Facebook though. He does sadly look like a twunt. Will be opening a dispute tomorrow then.

On the other hand, selling it for £600 was pretty miserable. Will have a stark look at finances to see if I can keep it. If anyone fancies the Sirion, that'd help. £275 to a 'shiter? Good fun, but something has to go.

Probably wasting your time even asking DW but how much would you be looking to get for the Discovery?

A lady at work mentioned today that as her car was terminally ill ( S reg Corsa) she was having her husband's motor and he was after a 4X4 to play around in.

I was hoping for £850.

Anyway, here's how I now do computing. Check out my curtains.

Thanks, will mention it to her tomorrow but like I say, don't know how serious she is.

At a complete guess, I'd say anywhere between £600 to £800. I know Steve and I know the work he puts into these cars so I'm guessing its going to be the latter figure.

Dwobbler, can't fix your hard drive but I do have hard drives here you can have for postage costs if you want to get it fixed on the cheapness.

Thanks Pillock. Got anything in a 500gb flavour? Videos don't half munch on the capacity. 2.5".

What laptop DW?

I have a HP one here that has a dead motherboard but a perfectly OK HDD with Win XP and Office Pro-plus on it (and loads of the wifes shit). I think its a SATA but wont know until I pull it.

I do believe I do, I'll get it tested as soon as possible and make sure it's not knackered.

Do you also need recovery disks for a DV6 or were you one of the clever people that made them?

I finally got rid of that fucking Meriva. £1000 cash money. Note to self for future reference - check taxation band for future Auctionshite purchases before sticking my paw up in the air.

You know those annoying warnings that you keep ignoring? "I'll do that one day." Well, I didn't. Annoyingly, the Windows 7 serial number on the bottom of the laptop has rubbed off too. Am thinking about going Linux. Thanks though. Your efforts are much appreciated!

At the risk of starting a geek argument, don't be tempted by Ubuntu.

It'll take no time and cost no money to get you the disks just in case, if you let me know what model DV6 it is (label on the bottom under the battery, something like DV6-1001EA)

Ngggggg ngggg must resist starting a geek argument...

Regardless of that, did 60 miles in the Sirion today. Still occasionally suffering fuel starvation on left-hand turns, but once on a right-hander, and once going uphill. I suspect the in-tank filter is clogged. Struggling to think what else it could be. Will file it under 'live with.'

In other news, soddit. The Discovery is going to stay. I'm going to be pushing the finances quite seriously hard, but that's life.

Could be something to do with accumulator/swirl pot? (if it has either)

No. Another Ebay timewaster. It made shit money too. I've opened a dispute - there is a slight chance that it'll kick start the chap into action, but given that he's already provided me with a non-existent phone number, the chances seem slim. Would help my finances if something sells - someone has expressed an interest in the Sirion so we'll see what happens.
