Oh yes, we had a big old bit of carpet down underneath it...which I removed just before starting it!

You should have kept the Astra for your own use. ;)

(Providing that hasn't decided to shat itself of course!)

Hah, perhaps!  Nope, it's behaving perfectly, only issue I've heard of was a clogged washer pump which was easily fixed.

Why is it that to get from Aylesbury to Fleet (which is 1:30ish in the car) I'd need four trains and 3 hours (not to mention £60).

This is the only hurdle left in a potential new purchase but I fear it will be the stumbling block!

Grr. Fleet is not where I thought it was, as I'd help you hunnit percent to get that motor.  Do you work during the week?

I'm working 7 days a week at the moment. My first opportunity to collect would be a week next Wednesday. Even then I'm not quite sure how I could do it.

I too cannot do an oil change without spilling some bloody oil.

All transmission oils on the Landcruiser in the spring, wonder how much mess that will be.

Still going to do my own servicing though, bought in bulk when on offer good quality full synthetic engine oil works out around £15/20 a gallon, another £8 for a decent filter, no pro can match that, transmission oils cheap too if you get em by 20litre packs.

If throwing out an old duvet or rug, stick it in the garage/shed instead and lay that double thickness on the ground before starting the job.

Hurrah - Mr seller says holding the car for a couple of weeks is no problem!

Might be time to put a bid in on this.

Y badge no begin with l......

And mention Greek :)

Grumpy news:  Lancia Gamma seller has cancelled the sale and decided to keep it (again - he did this last year too).  At least he's not scrapping it or something.

The trouble with Gamma Coupes is there's always a couple up for sale for £8k+ so people think that's what they're worth.  They actually change hands for about half that for a really decent one, and for a scruffy runner you can halve that again.  (This one seems to be somewhere between the two, having visible rust and dents, non-standard seat covers etc.)

Oh well, I suppose it's for the best really, I have too many cars and too long a to-do list.

I'm picturing you typing this

Aye, with just one big teardrop landing on the keyboard.

Never mind, off to the shed now to do some Rancho dismantling.  Update later (assuming Braddon81 and I make a bit of progress).

If it makes you feel better, I absolutely cannot perform an oil change with spillage of some sort. Every single time. Handy tip. I tend to lay sheets of cardboard everywhere now, so spillage doesn't ruin the driveway...

In a Kafkaesque set of manoeuvres involving a trailer, a pick up, four drivers and three cars the Polo is off for a new life in the Highlands.

The Xsara is knackered but crucially the engine gearbox and clutch seem great. A brake hose burst as I was holding it on the trailer at full tilt.

This the td conversion for the van? I want to hear all the gory details and what's what!

Was going on my Sunday afternoon drive escape from domestic bliss*, but Favorit won't start, nor with the jump leads. Showing 12.28v. Another 063 needed? Would be my second of this winter!

Washed my car. Bloody cold doing it, but it needed it. Looks all clean and sparkly now :)

Yes.

I'd be interested in how it goes. I guess all the electrics of the dw8 can be binned

Stripped the forks down on my GSX14, sending them off for rechroming as they are knackered. Got a long list of bits to order & sort everything else important too.

I've had great advice from XUD rainman Arthur Foxhake. I think any vehicle fitted with a DW8 originally will accept an XUD easily. C15 TD would be hilarious.

That's the plan if things goes tits up with the lump or I aquire an Mot fail xud. It's definitely on my radar. I will follow your trials and tribulations first to see if my mental health will cope!

For the second time in two days I have just managed to stop myself from messaging the seller of this. The first time was when he listed the Audi 100 Avant behind it.

306 saloons are for winners. A really decent shape of car IMO.

When my 90 year old grandad finally admits he has stopped driving I'll be selling his 306 diesel sedan on here in all likelihood. Hopefully he'll accept it soon cos he can't do it anymore.

Halfords have the 4 shot redex bottle on offer at £5.

That one has more of a field car look about it than I would consider ideal. It's in the land of AC/DC and Peter Pan, and can be yours for £220.

I got a proper look at this today and Mike told me it'll be up for sale shortly.  It's a stunning looking car, the colour combination is ideal and it's just worn enough for me to really admire it.  I have a lot of love for the look of the 304 and this one, with its silver bodywork, black hard top and neat little steel wheels and hubcaps is just perfect as it is.  It's beyond my financial reach, perhaps fortunately, and does need a little work here and there.  I'd still love to own it though, these have to be one of the most stylish cars ever produced.

EDIT:  oh look, it's on eBay.  Definitely beyond my financial reach.  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/152364961487

I don't do XUD, I only considered it because I like inappropriate saloon versions, see also Focus. If I was going to get anything bought it would be the Audi.
