Relatively common then for parts etc.

One wheel keeps going flat, it's just a dodgy valve I've not changed.

Oh dear!

Is that on the inner face? How did you know?

Wiki's a bit out on the 4EAT's parentage; it's made by Jatco rather than Subaru. As a result, it found its way into quite a few Nissans, including the Pathfinder and the R33 Skyline GT-R Automatic

It shits itself in the ARUCEEONAY because it isn't cooled well enough (and has to contend with the weight of a fat four-wheel drive GT).

Combine this with a box cooler built into the radiator (yay*) and when the inevitable happens, the torque converter fills with coolant and all the clutch bands pop off.

If you're fastidious with the filter and ATF changes, you might just get away with it.

Or not. Bonus pwood as consolation prize.

The relevance was more how the same gearbox copes fine in equally heavy/heavier Nissans. Nowt wrong with the 4EAT, it's more how Subaru decided to fit it in the SVX that leads to all the problems.

That and it's not a Subaru box, ye. Pedants, piss steam, etc.

It is the inner face. These 17 inch wheels have never been on my car, they are the ones I got to replace the BBS 15 inch to try and improve the look.

Can you fit an aftermarket cooler after the standard ATF cooler? Seems a popular mod for V6 Accord owners to extend the life of the autobox.

That's exactly what I'm going to have done. Plug the pipes on the built in cooler and have an external 17 or 30 row MOCAL fitted.

There was a pearl white SVX with this mod; I'd have felt happier recommending that car than any of the others I've seen on eBay recently.

The PO of my car said the ATF fluid and filter had been done recently. They hadn't.

Have a bonus shot of the domestic market floormats that came standard on JDM Alcyones:

I've since learned there's a little rear middle section that sits over the transmission tunnel. These come up occasionally on Buyee/Rinkya/Yahoo Auctions.

I've got the y0 domestive market boot carpet (plain grey with the riveted SVX logo) and the inlet manifold cover that says 'BOXER' (instead of H-6) too.

Blatantly stolen image.

Luckily both were cheap - and the shipping wasn't too hefty.

Nothing much happening mondeo still plodding on treated the new wheels to new tyres, so the bargain set of 18's has now got 3new 215 35r18's so much for 1 initially needed.

Love my car.

Noticed last night i got a leak... then woke up to lots of pas fluid on the floor, luckly my mate had given me a 2nd hand replacement , bastard 8mms hidden in narrow gap, and they look like never been undone so as i needed it for work and was enough give in the pipes so just cabled the replacement.

You've been putting the hours in with the Mondy lately. My PAS pipes are rusty (the ones that run along the side of the subframe) and need sorting this year before this happens to me.

I must love this motor..........for now

Spotted this evening in downtown Glossop..

A fine and competent gentlemans conveyance, with a Rover P6 parked in front of it;)

Sorry, can't see it for that hairdresser's car parked in front...

Crikey. In the first shot of the SVX I thought you were using offcuts from your nans hall carpet as overmats......Didnt realise they were proper items. Thats brilliant!

Fixed the 806 yesterday 240 mile round trip got me a replacement tailgate and a couple of rear side loading doors. It is now water tight again, which is more than can be said for the fucking Horizon. I had a couple of rally guys rang up about it last night so maybe the old heap will get turned in to a full blown rally car. Seems a bit daft to me as they weren't really much good back in the day, but hey ho if he pays the money it's up to him.

I really must move the bin or I will go and do it again I bet. The side doors can wait for now as they are a right faff to fit.

I was idly rifling through the latest entries on Trademe late last night, when lo and behold, I saw this beauty, selling locally for $2k (£1150-ish, nowadays)

Now, there's only the two of us, so I don't need the 8 seats and I certainly don't need a third blue wagon with a tow bar but it's a flipping CX, so I spent a relatively sleepless night waiting for it to be early enough to call the seller. Come 9 am, contact was made and I was on his doorstep for 10 sharp, only to hear him on the phone sealing the deal with its new buyer. Bugger.

The seller was very apologetic and let me take a closer look round it, which was ace, as it became apparent very quickly that my notions of bagging a mint CX wag to sell on at a nice fat profit down the line were dashed, as it was well used inside and there was a fair wodge of rust under the rearmost side windows. Mechanically, it was no doubt in fine fettle and it sported a nice set of Michelins but cosmetically, it was quite challenged. The seller is from the south island, is flying up and then driving it back the 1000km or so, plus the ferry hop between isles. I reckon that little lot won't see much change from $1000, so I hope they're happy with it!

Yeah would love one of them.

Got in the Disco to go see a job that's off the beaten track.

Gets it sets off and...

One of the lads scanned this old heap.

There are many more pages of pics with codes on but we had a quick look at the wheel sensor and it's looks loose, when we put the wheel back on to get it out the workshop the lights all went out for 5 mins.

It's only £20.04 for a new one. Hopefully you don't need to piss about taking the bearing out and what not to change it.

I really must get MrsN's Freelander2 scanned. The current tally of electrical woes is; alternator light permantly on for last 18 months, half of windscreen( driver's side naturally) not working, both heated seats not working and hasn't locked or unlocked for about a year. Occaisionaly, about once every 6 months it goes into limp mode , turn it off and back on again and it's right as rain.

You've got to love Land Rover ( Ford?) electrics.

Sod the Vactan, tell us about your AGA in the off topic section!

Memory scan of b0rked phone shat this image out of the SVX interior just after I bought it (pre Axminster mat installation).

Yeah, I will do - but:

1. It's miles away

2. My camera phone is shagged; at the moment the photos I've shown you are more or less all I've got

3. It's coming back briefly to go off to another place to have the autobox done and it'll be in the dark

4. Set wallets to 'eviscerated'

5. ?????

6. Annoy regulars wanting an SVX thread

7. SVX thread

Two bits of news!

First, the Polo of doom has been replaced with a genuinely quite nice mk4 golf, which was £50 cheaper!!

e2854c791b4762e30b776a543fb0866b.jpg

Second is I'm sat outside my lockup in said golf waiting for the cooncil to fix the door because the bloody thing won't close and I'm not leaving it open for people to pinch all of the tools/wheels/parts in it! It's a bit cold!

I can confirm that it's not. It may be a private plate though, some of the early service history has a different plate on it. Both equally nondescript, so someone's wasted their money at some point!
