Ah, good ol' Palatines. Used to go to school on Finglands ones, Magic Bus ones, all sorts of quality buses.

Didn't like Alexander PSs as I always whacked my head standing up upstairs - stupidly low ceiling.

My favourite buses were the ex-Kenyan Dennis Dragon double rear axles:

Don't even see ALX400s or Tridents any more, it's just Enviro400s and Wrightbuses now.

Don't Mercedes wheels fit VW campers (T5 models)? If so there must be a ton or so in them to some 'original' type to make his glorified van look like everyone else's.

£6 bottle of Zinfandel later and they're home.

Winner.

But they look gash.

That might be OTT... But I live in perpetual fear of looking like an old bloke trying to look young. Plus, it's not really what this particular car is about. It certainly doesn't pass the Golf Course/Aldi test.

Back on with the steels.

Yes please on that trim... I just broke a clip putting the trim back on.

Pm me and I'll get back to you in great detail later.

In essence. Don't. Google VVTi oil burning for details. Despite what anyone says you absolutely have to get an 06 on car with the indicators in the wing mirrors to avoid almost certain catastrophe.

I've had three now. You're infinitely better going pre 2000 or 06 onwards.

Yes they do - Mercedes/VW T4/some but not all T5/Passat/Audi A4/A6/Skoda Superb are all 5x112. Merc wheels need a spigot ring ideally for VAG products (ask me how I know).

Just goes to show how wheels can make a lovely car look really shit. Trims really suit these cars.

Well it's out of the boot, but doesn't look like a promising start- the carb is rusted!

15" of 80s joy.

Any takers?

I've got three very similar 14" ones (spares for the type my 740 had) and they look fab on old Volvos. Shirley someone is keen?

Gis a bell when you're local and I'll frisbee that trim I've got at you FOC.

Hope you find a buyer for those RIMZ.

Would a W124 beige mat and carpet set be of any use to ye?

I've finally fixed the bloody Vauxhall Victor!

Carb. Fiddled. Better now.

Just need to see if I've killed its ability to start from cold, which will have to wait until tomorrow.

Great for pissing off sales reps in A3's and 1 series'

Aye, seeing as the biggest petrol Honda put in was 1.8 (double cam VTI admittedly, a lot less comfy and subtle).

The oracle of knowledge says 135bhp. Nice.

Unsure. Not sure how much they differ from the w201. I'll pm you when I get a chance.

Been using the Royale for some longer runs-far better on the jungle juice than I thought it would be. It's not very good around the doors-but long runs and it's great.

It will cruise easily at 70mph and the only thing you can hear is my 80's cd (unless you turn it down and you can hear the manifold blowing and all the windnoise from the sunroof and rattling exhaust).

The workshop rang and the head for the Parade's ready.  I picked it up and farted around until it was too hot to work outside without much perspirationage.  Then it turn out the borrowed torque wrench doesn't go low enough in settings to be of use so dashed to Toolstation to buy a cheapy one.

Anyway got the head on, got the cam cover on too and the thermostat.  The aluminium blocks are shit though, I've over tightened two bolts already, going tight the light, whoops!  Hopefully I'll get away with it, this job has cost me over £200 so far.

I'll carry on with the bolt carnage tomorrow, belt is not coming until saturday - thanks to amazon prime not been arsed to tell me it was oos.

Collected the first of last nights purchases today it made it back which was a start. The bumper went back on ok and had to repair the bodged servo hose. Some idiot put a bit of garden hose on it and it collapsed inside so no brakes after the first pump.
