As has been said to Jakebullet - MOVE OUT !

It's tough for everyone after flying the nest - you will get over it , trust me .

Hope things sort out for you, Ghosty.

If you can afford, and want, to keep your car then no way should you sell it. IIRC you don't even park it on the drive, it goes on the road? Sounds like your old man needs to find a way to deal with you growing up and making your own decisions.

I don't particularly subcribe to the "MOVE OUT!!!11!" arguement, I'm afraid. Aren't you only early 20's? And it isn't always as easy as just pissing off. I'm back with my folks following a split from my fiancée and I'm a lot older than you. It isn't easy, you're always the "child" no matter how old you are.

Old man won't be happy sharing a car with you if you have a bump, Ghosty.

I couldn't wait to get my kids in their own car and on their insurance.

I can understand your mum and dad sharing a car, many do, but not sure why you get dragged into it.

But don't move out or you may end up sleeping in your car.

Move out, it'll only get worse as they try to continue to control your life when you're now at a stage to control your own.

The being poor/skint/can't afford to do shit is worth it.

Your dads thinking, "My house, my rules" and your mum doesn't want to upset him too much because when you decide to move out it'll be just them two and she'll still have to sleep with him.

(He's probably had a look at AS and trying to stop the madness before it starts).

Help your mum buy a rental property, (with a garage and drive) you move in at a subsidised rent.

Like my lad does but he pays less rent than that.

Yes, my car is on the road not the drive, but I'll get the drive space when the A4 sells. I have my own insurance policy (that I'd have to transfer in this situation) with my parents as named drivers but no 3rd party cover for other vehicles. I was intending to buy a 740 and have it on a classic policy if possible but that looks unlikely now. The mother won't share her car as she's way too personal about it and needs it most days because she has back problems. Besides it's a Bini so not much cop for three adults. The Rover is passable but not great and the A4 might as well not have back seats.

It all boils down to Old Man going 'don't want three cars grumble grumble expensive'.

Anyone bought anything from Online Automotive? They seem to have a cheap exhaust for the Rialto. Wonder if they quality is any good?

Hey G, does your Dad contribute to the running of your car? If not then don't sell and tell him so.

However, it does sound like your Dad doesn't really want rid of his Audi either yet probably feels pushed to do so, to which he is probably using you to get rid of your Rover as some way of making a point against you and your Mum, I mean, he is telling you to buy the exact same car with a different badge whether he knows this or not (I suspect he does). Look at it this way, you have your Rover, your Mum has her BINI and your Dad has his Audi which he has done some work to and got it more or less the way he wants it, yet now he feels pushed to rid of his pride and joy because you and your Mum -don't want- the Audi yet you and your Mum keep your cars. Yeah, sounds a bit 'over thought' but then things aren't always as simple as they seem.

You say you "need" a family car which sounds more likely to suit you and your Mum with your Dad making the sacrifice. Do you really -need- a family car? Do you go out and do long journeys I.e. to London every weekend or owt? I don't know about your Mum (I understand she has back problems) but couldn't there be a better compromise? lets say your Dad fits more comfy seats in his Audi and you just simply put up with being uncomfortable in the back.

Not having a go, but comprises are an important thing to think about and to take everyone into consideration.

It will be as good as anything else on a Reliant.

Daughters Lupo needs a complete new exhaust. Went to local exhaust place they wanted £320+vat and I had to loosen the nuts at the manifold as they were frightened they would shear off causing all sort of pain for them. They are usually great for prices and I dont even phone around any more. Managed to get one from Eurocarparts for £182 with the discount code. Got to fit it myself but how hard can it be. :-D

Rover is solely mine and Old Man has no input. He's come to his own decision to sell the A4 and wants me to have a bigger/better car using the money freed up, however he won't let me keep the Rover for some reason if I want anything else. I do move things around a fair bit and the extra space of a bigger car would be handy, and if we had a comfortable car we'd all go out as a family more. There's also the fact I have wanted a Volvo for a bit and don't want to miss the boat (look at 240 values).

Thinking about it though I might let the Rover go - problem is there's no point me selling it with the amount I've spent on it, and it needs more spent. Bob on mechanically and low mileage but sort of scruffy outside, theres only 2 months of MOT left on it and it needs a couple of welding patches for the MOT.

Whilst this does work, plug patch is really the way to do it, need to take tyre off though.

Screw is also close to the sidewall, some may refuse to repair it.

Had some luck with the tyre, it wasn't a whole screw, not much more than the head. Local tyre shop pulled it out and checked the tyre and it's fine. No charge!

Tyre shop did say it would have been too close to the sidewall to repair if it had gone through.

No, but as they have a proper landline listed and full address, gives some confidence.

Postage not cheap though?

I have a feeling a sneaky plan to keep the Rover is forming - after all it's going to need welding before it's worth selling...

I've just been up to Oxfordshire to replace two TEMIC modules in my sisters's scenic. Success! Both n/s functionality restored. Took longer to find the correct sized Torx bits than anything else.

They're now wondering whether to get the cambelt done. It's overdue apparently, but the delear has told them £700, which is more than it's worth obviously. Anyone local to south Oxford know of a good independent?

Met Amy Williams, saw a LOT of XJ220s being chased by a Transit van, fell in love with a Daihatsu Midget, drove from Northampton to Southampton. In OMG rain Kaos. Quite knackered now. Need to find food.

Super-basic early X2 Pony. It's in remarkable condition (genuine 26k with no welding or body repairs) but is probably the most miserable joyless vehicle I've yet experienced! 155 X 13 tyres as well.

I had a Pony, booted + Heathermills !!

A looooonnnngggggg time ago.. I'm better now :)

This is a 1.3 with carb, is it the same Mitsubishi engine as what you get in a Proton?

Care homes eat cash and houses. But if Ghosty's still living in it they can't touch the house.

Best stick it out then.
