Spent today packing most of my unit into a locker at Safestore because my landlord is a massive stroker

attachicon.gifIMG_1494.JPG

There's some hoover porn somewhere for beko's benefit but the photos don't show it - some Hoover bagless thing I bought for a quid on eBay to deal with the hugely dusty floor

Absolutely fucking knackered - full van load (LWB Trafic) and more there plus I've taken a van load to the tip today

There's still more! :(

I'm afraid this just won't do. Details of landlord's scandalous behaviour needed when a gentleman's tools are involved.

It's not really that scandalous - I said to him a couple of months ago that I was going to move on and he offered reduced rent to get me to stay - long enough for him to rent it out from under me and give me a week to get out

I saw this in Southwold on Monday and thought of you HMC, another one of those rare MG ZR Express's.

Bad news. We're in for a week of arctic blasts...

Good thing the heated seats haven't done a Renault yet!

Worst heated seats ever though - they work when the cabin is under a certain temperature and then turn themselves off never to come on again

That is by design, not because Laguna

Godsend when I drove it all winter without enough coolant to warm the cabin mind!!!

I noticed that actually, I thought they just turned off after a while so they didn't catch fire.

Gotta love total-loss oil corrosion prevention systems. :D

The oil change I did on the Saab was with that oil. Seemed to really not mind it and ran much smoother than the old oil in it before.

Damnit I forgot & on the cider now

Yes those Laguna seats are annoying. More seat warmers than heaters. Imo seat heaters should roast your bum.

They also leave an annoying dash light on to tell you they're on. Looks like it's a warning that eels are coming out of your seat.

Mrs SiC is off seeing her parents tomorrow. Awfully tempted to go up to Cannock car auctions. However I fear I may end up accidentally buying something! :?

I had one of those! Bought it off the back of a scrap wagon for next to nowt and put a new pedal on it so they didn't match!

That orange and white panda is the "alessi" special edition.  They're an italian housewares manufacturer, the model was for sale at the ideal home exhibition, in orange, green and black.

Have been arseing about driving the MG ZT up to Scotland and driving the Rover 75 back again. A comparison looms.

The MG is more comfortable and faster, miles just waft by. The Rover is a better place to be in reality. Same engine, but different somehow. The MG is better at hooning but Rover more relaxing. So I have both. Can't decide which is better so am keeping both!

The Saab being the daily driver....

Just purchased and collected a two door, two litre saloon that was made in Finland 28 years ago from rural Wiltshire.

It is a cool (in my eyes) looking ride that mr Vantman will approve of.

Hmm so a circa 1989 2 door saloon, IIRC Saab had a Finnish factory and 89 was one of the last years for the 900 saloon. Turbo? IIRC racers favoured the 2 door shell as it's less flexible.

Good to see Mr Six Cylinder and his mighty DS. I've certainly had a good weekend for Shiter spotting!

Before I went, I adjusted up the 2CV's handbrake, as I'm fed up with it coming off the ratchet. And not working.

Then, on the way, I overtook a modern on a bend (with good visibility) because the sod kept accelerating down the straights, but then cornered as if he had a fridge standing upright in the back. Excellent fun.

Oh I don't know, it is superbly designed, perfect weight distribution and handles brilliantly. Lots of luggage space - large front boot and decent rear boot too. Faster than contemporary MGBs and TR7s too. Yes it's only a 128 underneath, but that wasn't a bad car either.

Hand built mid engined Italian cars don't come any cheaper.

I've been on a drive it day treasure hunt today which was great but I've save that for later, on the way back me and my mate got all "Counting cars" when i saw a Princess tucked up a driveway, we managed to persuade each other to turn round and head back to speak to the owner.

Thankfully he was a lovely old boy who was up for a chat and having found we had a few mutual friends helped too! The Princess is a early 1800 HL auto belonging to his dad who died and had been of the road since 1994, he's thinking of selling it as he doesn't like it.

It's only done 57000 miles and it's a local car from new.

The interior was immaculate!

Sadly the exterior wasn't so good, it will need new arches, sills repairs, door bottoms, suspension looking at and the metallic painted quite worn.

It still has it's first service at 1000 miles in 1976 sticker under the bonnet!

He also had this Cresta in the garage which was his dads from 3 years old, it's still not been restored!

After 14 years off the road and 4 years sat in my garage my Spitfire fired up for the first time this afternoon.

I didn't take pictures because

1. I'm a bit of a technophobe.

2. I really didn't expect it to start.

Just need to give the brakes a once over, change brake and clutch fluid and oil and tyres then it's mot time.

Don't hold your breath for the next update though.
