Did somebody say diesel V8?!

Herr cms206 at the end...

"Just sounds filthy!"

I'm still trying to catch up with videos from this event. See if you can hear yourself!

I've still got more videos to come! Here's the Oxford MO with too many people in it.

On the contrary there weren't enough - finally proved it as a 6-seater last night though. And made no difference whatsoever to the 'performance'!

It's very odd to drive three up in front isn't it? Feels like you're sharing the steering wheel with someone else!

Yes it is. I wouldn't like to do it for any length of time. But I was happy it had been proved and it can be done if needs be. That's why, on the succeeding Series II, the steering wheel was off-set to make these situations more comfortable for the driver. But in all honesty, how often do you ever carry 6 people? Once a year at Autoshite events!

That's impressive cranking speed there!

That tinny rattle noise as we drove off is a bit of a mystery. I thought we were dragging a piece of fence wire or something, but there was nothing to be seen and the noise disappeared after a mile.

Stones inside the big shiny metal wheel trims?

When I was younger we often put bottle tops in side hub caps. O life on the wild side!

I hav heard the faire engine is needed to be brought back into service in case there are too many idiots starting fires in England this year.

Stones inside the big shiny metal wheel trims?

Fairly sure that's what it was. It stopped after a mile or so.

Two big batteries.

Still more videos! Fiat 500 this time. I'm sorry we broke it Mr Saabnut. Twice. I had to edit the bit out where you'd told me it had a 600cc engine from a Multipla though. Fake news! They had four-pot water-cooled lumps.

This means there's only one video left - Montego with bonus bus off-roading!

I would like to point out that it was fine when I drove it, yet seemed to break twice when someone else was driving it... ;)

Montego test with a stuck bus! Also contains bonus CMS content.

Right, you'll be pleased to learn that that's me done.

If we can find some private ground you should come up and do a feature on Big Yellow.

Aye, that I would like.

Someone must know someone with an airfield in Scotland? And if not, why not?

There's nothing anywhere near where the bus lives.

Aye, that I would like.

If you can't wait another 2 and a bit years you could always get your Category D provisional and bung a couple of L plates on it.

Why did the bus have trouble through the trees

Our field is now rock hard, the hay is cut, bring it down for a 10 acre play ground.

Well, it’s about time the last visitor to SF18 got made ready to leave.

IMG_1504.jpeg.e3941b1e2600768f020e44368c7238ef.jpeg

unbelievably, it starts and runs on the six year old fuel rather well. After a little percussive maintenance, ghe brakes wee released and it moved under its own power for the first time since 2018.

But

It looks like the head gasket has gone south as it boils like vesuvius after a while. Not a major issue but coupled with the less than brilliant gearbox (from factory, truth be told), maybe a bit of re-engineering might turn the green monster into something that could be useful.

Diesel would have been my preference, say something TUD shaped (AX, 106, or Saxo) but looking at C1 prices, going this route might be a cheaper option. Don’t forget, this isn’t aa stroker but uses a carbon copy of the VW 1.3 coupled to a Wartburg built gearbox after the party foiseted this engine on them instead of their own designs.

Plenty of room under the bonnet and the re-engineered chassis can easily be adapted to accommodate anything transverse, the only tight spot would be the high mounted steering rack might prevent anything too silly.

Ideas on donors welcome, but they must be driveable north so I can whisper sweet nothings into Saabnuts ear to let me weild some spanners at it.

Oh and very much indebted to the same Saabnut for keeping it up there for the past six years as the only Warburg in the UK visible on Google maps.

I've wondered for a long while what happened to that.   Hope you can get it useful again soon man.
