Damnit I missed a ride in the Bentley!

I'm on Bute for the night half deaf as my blowing exhaust got much worse on the way here.

Great weekend chaps and thanks again to Saabnut for the use of his place.

I was desperately looking for people heading back whilst going up the M80/A9, I think I saw garycox in his Astra Cabriolet but that's about it.

RobT and FPB7 are giving me an introduction to Tebay.

All is going well so far. No problems or untoward noises (that we are paying attention to).

I joked that I'd have to get a shot because I missed out on the Fiat*, I really didn't expect Saabnut to say yes. Supernaut was planning to stay in the back but I couldn't let that happen.

Has Andrew told you that it's a tradition, an ancient charter, or something?

Home and tucking into my dinner. I went down the A1 rather than the M74, and the only other shiter I saw was Cats who caught me up before we got to the A90, and I apologise to him for leading him astray and getting "air" over a humpback-bridge...!

Many thanks to Saabnut for hosting and RobT for the trip to the chippy, and everyone else for being there, puting up with me and generally being excellent. Thanks.

Well, just been out to collect the signs, and wondered why anybody would want to steal an SF18 direction sign wheel trim then guessed it was taken as a souvenir, so I guess SF18 is officially over. Must say thank you to everyone who made the effort to turn up and for making it a great weekend.

Was great fun - will do again! 10/10 - although I think I will let someone else host it next year and just visit!

Hopefully everyone enjoyed themselves, I certainly did. Difficult to pick individuals out but Kudos to SquireDawson for the epic journey in the MO and to all who put so much effort into getting the Green Goddess running for the first time in 9 years. Special thanks also to davidfowler2000 for bringing the big yellow bus down my track and especially for the headboard which made my weekend. A picture of that and the signed attendance sheet below:

Oh, I forgot to mention my souvenirs! The Wartie is very welcome.

I am sure my neighbours will appreciate the decoration to the green goddess, but the third picture does nicely as a message to the attachee! :-D

Excellent weekend sir! 112%/10 great venue. Will visit again!

I'll get some photos up at some point. Kudos to all the Englanders for actually making the effort showing everyone on here that moans about things being too far away they are just complete wimps!

The bus averaged 7.75mpg from Barrhead to Dundee and 7.75mpg again from Dundee - SF18 - Dundee. We went home via the outskirts of Edinburgh so less stops (roundabouts) and flatter going means I would expect to see at least 9mpg next time I fill up. A few hairy moments going down the track especially trying to get out when it decided to lose traction going up the steep bit of the gravel track through the trees.

Indeed. A few of us were having a good prod around the Duster. I reckon it's very much AS approved futureshite.

Myself and Mr Ghosty are at Abington Services. We went to find the tallest village in Scotland on the recommendation of Mr Fowler, but the road was closed. So we turned around and came down the a70, which was pretty fucking sweet!

Time to get some miles down and get the hell out of Scotland! I'm 800 miles in averaging 56.5mpg

I am also home; after a hairy man stole my car I did get it back again and returned to SVM HQ whereupon I gave it a wash.

I have since collected CHILD_CMS and WIFE_CMS and returned home where I am cooking some sort of delicious potato dish for tea.

Saabnut is an absolute gentlemen and made an already great weekend absolutely outstanding, I do hope we didn't disgrace ourselves.

To all of you - cheers!

PS: It's nice to leave mid afternoon and still be home at teatime - 135 miles home is just a nice amount ;)92c7a29090b26a416127e2630e936756.jpg2fa46ab63b4fa6ba6c7a056825edc7ce.jpgb73200e0a66f41f782dbc5f3c4cc2628.jpg

I sloped off early (10am) today as I had another place to be but I think that I am not just speaking for myself when I say a better host would be very difficult to find.

The location was amazing, the on site attractions (so much stuff) was difficult to believe.

The stand out was the attitude of the host, not many would have gone to the trouble of creating the kitchen/toilet suite and having such such an inconceivable assortment of vehicles which despite the value of some of these there was no 'off limits'

Thank you for the opportunity to roam freely.

Fantastic weekend. Many thanks to SaabNut for providing a venue which can only be described as perfect!

Fantastic selection of cars and some magical moments inluding the arrival of Squire Dawson in the Oxford at 1:30am, the resurection of the Bedford and the SVM catering crew very nearly being overwhelmed by the collective's desire for fryed foods on Sat morning.

Have many pictures and videos but won't be home to podt them till mid week!

Now that I've had time to unwind, unpack and catch up with modern life, it's time for my traditional big post to round off this year's Shitefest.

Once again. Thanks to Mr Nick Saabnut for an excellent weekend. I've never said that any Shitefest was better or worse than the others and this year was no different. Every event has it's own character from the sheer unadulterated chaos we brought to the village of Malham in 2013 to the epic day trip that was the dual venue Welsh event in 2015. That said this year's was probably the most sophisticated Shitefest with hot and cold running toilets, an electric kettle that NEVER went cold for three days and the opportunity to hook the bus up to the mains so I could run the electric cool box constantly and keep the lights burning for hours at a time.

This year also set a record for how much we could demolish a slab of lorne sausage. Normally a single slab will do the SVM and any partakers for 2 breakfast sittings with one or two slices left over. This year saw a whole slab of 24 slices, a dozen potato scones, 2 dozen rolls and almost two packets of bacon annihilated in 45 minutes. We simply couldn't cook them as fast as there was demand even with Andy FPB7's jet stove! EXCELLENT JOB GANG!!!

This year's story starts about 4 months ago. I knew I was buying a flat and as recompense for letting me use his spare room when we did an Associated Massivs at the Electric Train Museum, I offered my spare room to Sloth_in_a_bowl. A room I didn't have yet. It also turned out to be my own first night in the flat after 3 weeks of decorating and all sorts. Even still I'm not fully moving in until a new front door is fitted. 2 days before Mr Sloth was due to arrived, dollywobbler made mention he was doing the journey in two stages with an overnight somewhere. I offered the living room which seemed to go down well especially after sleeping in the living room became sleeping in the 3rd bedroom after we managed to clear a load of stuff out. While this was going on, beko1987 and Ghosty were staying at Bavarianretro's unit in East Kilbride. A plan was hatched for beko and Ghosty to arrive at my flat early Friday, walk in to Glasgow for breakfast and then head to Barrhead to get the bus. The convoy departed Barrhead approx 1120hrs and first stop was Dundee for a fuel and pit stop. 7.75mpg it averaged! Not helped by big hills and the torque converter in the gearbox not locking up betweek Perth and Dundee.

People were amazed the bus got there. Secret was I popped up to see Nick last week in the car just to see how tough the last section of the journey would be so it was just a case of taking it easy. Leaving the site proved difficult at the first tight turn on the dirt track where it went up a steep hill through the trees. The rear end cut in just enough to catch the soft verge and lost traction. A quick reverse and a gentle run at the gravel track took care of that. On the southbound journey I decided it would be a good idea to go from Dundee to Perth then continue on the M90 to the outskirts of Edinburgh over the new Queensferry crossing. Less roundabouts for the bus's senile gearbox to deal with and smoother, free-er flowing roads made for a very pleasant journey home.

Andy cms overtook at Edinburgh, followed by beko1987, to open up the yard at Barrhead while myself and DW on board were followed back by Ghosty. We arrived back at Barrhead approx 1700hrs where we did a quick transfer of stuff back to the cars. DW set off first in an attempt to get home quickly, beko and Ghosty headed for the KFC at Darnley for dinner and myself and cms206 gave the cars a quick hose down. I then dashed off to KFC to do a final send off to Messrs beko and Ghosty who are still on their way south as I type. Almost 4 hours later.

Myself and cms206 were absolutely delighted at all the Englanders who made the journey just showing that nowhere on the mainland UK is truly "far away". Furthest travelled of course were Mr garycox from Brighton and Mr Kirton from Devonshire? in the campervan. Although he cheated his extra mileage by going the long way! RobT from south London and beko1987 (first time in Scotland) from Oxfordshire were another two epic journeys. Well done chaps! It makes such a pleasant change being able to leave a Shitefest early afternoon and be home for tea time.

Anyways. Time for some highlights of my photos. As usual I've uploaded them to my Flickr page.

Dinner time approached on the Saturday. My previous experience as a megabus driver told me we should head for Mike's Chipper in Torry. We found somewhere utterly dismal to sit and eat - Mr rml2345 reckons it was the old Bon Accord soft drinks factory / warehouse. The concensus was that of "That's a crackin' chip shop"
