Whatever you feel  - any spare dosh whether pounds or pennies toward this fund are greatly appreciated! - as you will see from Junkman's photos, this is going to be a "Blood, sweat, toil and tears" restoration, but hey, if the Alpine SE made it back onto the road, this has to be possible, right?

Have I missed the part saying it’s got a safe storage place to move to? Some sort of protection from the elements would be preferable, by looks of the general condition.

Great to see progress though. Would it be worth setting up a proper crowdfunding page? It’d need to tug at heart strings to get enough random strangers to rustle up enough dollar to get the car solid and roadworthy I’d have thought, but it’s got to be worth a try...

Safe storage space? Well we're working towards that, there are some kind offers of driveway space from a couple of members here. The issue was that there was no way to get it out of it's current spot. It's got new brake pipes front to back as of today, and we know it moves under it's own steam. If we can now make further progress by replacing tyres, rear callipers and a going ahead with replacement of both sills, I think it can drive off to a new "temporary" hidey hole, no?

 

Crowdfunding? I doubt anybody outside Autoshite would give 2 fucks about a Renault 30, or even know what one looks like? This is what they call a "Brave" restoration, no argument there, but this is THE Autoshite R30, one of the original cars back in the forum's halcyon days, 2006!

That's the twin of the one I owned twenty odd years ago. Surprisingly good handling as I remember. It replaced a Fuego. I had a Renault thing going on helped by a mate who had a specialist Renault breakers on Canvey Island.

I remember that yard on Canvey. He had a ramp outside with the roof off an old bus welded above it to keep the rain off. We used to go down there most Saturdays for the salvage auction then buy bits for my fleet of shite Renaults that I ran during the 90's

That's the one, Elray Motors. Eric was a funny old sod, couldn't deal with modern tech like fuel injection so didn't have much new stock. He's still about but is a bit senile nowadays.

Well people, thanks to the donations so far, the fund was at a staggering £132.51 this afternoon! I have just paid off the cost of the brake pipes, the fund is at £82.51 now, and if it keeps going well, there may soon be enough to give her fresh tyres on all 4 corners. Thank god they're not metric wheels!  

 

This project's prospects are actually pretty good, we have a huge number of spare parts including gearbox, tailgate, bonnet, rear arches, front and rear screens, a full replacement interior (but typically,  everything except what we actually need ie tryes, wings, replacement doors, callipers, replacement sills, new suspension components lol).

Great progress chaps. Are the tyres really knackered or just a bit cracked? Personally, I would sort the rot out and have it in with a good chance of gaining an MoT before splashing out on tyres, which is a major expense for any car.

Tyres are £20 a corner at my local scrappy. They put them on for you too of you catch them right

The correct size for the 30 is 185/80R14H, or 185HR14 in old money.

Wouldn't be sticking brand new rubber on a car you expect to be sitting for a while at it's new home. Part worns for now and better rubber once it's properly on the road would be my approach
