Having tried a lot of old stuff it makes me reallise just how much i like these. Even how they sound gives me a buzz.  I had a very rotten one in 2002 as a student and it never put a foot wrong in 10k and at the mercy of my less than skillful driving. That was a 4 door too, maybe why i like those best.

Clutch linkage adjustment is a bit awkward, if there's play at the pedal that's fine.

How much is it?  Its only 6 hours each way .

I would likely drive it up for you in a couple of month or two if needed? I would just ferry via Roscoff with a bike. Go on do it.

It has no clutch, or very little iirc. But thanks

I could take the trailer down, I would like to drive one again, but it's a stupid idea.

I know you dont need my input, but if youre still capable of putting a clutch in one and want another then why not? Doubt theres any money to be lost in owning one for a bit. Even if you dont want to do the clutch then trailer it straight to my uncles and he will do it for you for not much.

I can do a clutch by engine out. I've been lifting wardrobes all Easter and Carpet today.

The attraction is the classic insurance and no tax. I used to run my Minor and 75 weeks about.

I'm not sure how far down HMC is but a 700? mile round trip needs a Travelodge at my age .

So I'm at £250 without paying for the car.

Anyway it's not for sale.

Popped the white one into my shite friendly garage who are sorting the clutch (front off, engine out) And to swap the (noisy) water pump whilst they are at it.

Meanwhile the (mostly) black one continues to be a perfect local runaround…

Its tempting to take this over to France next week but the ex @Austin-Rover 820si has wall to wall velour and a massive boot for wine stowage.

I once changed a Minor clutch for £8 labour. Might* be a bit more now.

They did make a nice car Rover. My dad took a cheap 618i on as a last resort purchase, hating it immediatly and expecting little. Ended up absolutley loving it. Comfortable, nice handling, nice engine.

I keep looking at ZT190s. Must stop really.

Minor update

Collected the white one from my shite friendly local garage

As well at the clutch, id asked them to change the water pump as its cooling system had been neglected, and using a screwdriver as a stethoscope, id made a guess that the waterpump was making some unpleasant noises.

Turns out that was correct, and it now motors along as sweetly as you might expect from something that had its original owner from 62-88 and appears as far as i can tell from the piles of history, to have done 35k from new.

Hows first and second gear on the Minors?  They tend to be clickety click, and may jump out of second on overrun.

Ferry looks quiet. Did you get asked to do the EES or are they still, as reported, stamping passports at the port of departure?

The synchos are good on all, easy shifting and no issues on the overrun, unlike other minors ive had. The black on has a very very noisy first gear, i presume somethings not quite right in the ‘box so i tend avoid first in the black minor.

I think the in period advice was that 1st gear was only for hill starts and the pulling away in second was normal. 

I may remember wrong of courses.

Nothing doing on our pass through the port. Actually we were almost late so be barely stopped and were ushered straight on.
