Sloth in a bowl Posted December 20, 2017 Posted December 20, 2017 So is the plan to put the Mazda motor in the Wartburg, or the other way around? Or both?
HMC Posted December 21, 2017 Author Posted December 21, 2017 Wartburg en route! My transport man is almost as excited as I am. Growing up in Poland his first drive of a car was aged 11..... in his uncles wartburg 1.3s. It's definitely in safe hands as he kept me on the phone for a good 10 minutes telling me about used cars behind the iron curtain the 70s/80s. He's due here in about an hour!!!! The Moog, trigger, egg and 10 others 13

Popular Post HMC Posted December 21, 2017 Author Popular Post Posted December 21, 2017 Right on time, My contact from the east arrived. We met near the (Devon and cornwall) border. I greeted Arek and, looking to my left and right under the dim streetlamps, handed him a brown Envelope. My comrade then unloaded the goods and we parted........ oldcars, Vin, MarvinsMom and 61 others 64

Cavcraft Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Essentially, what you've done here is to hire a helicopter, fly over all other motoring forums and defecate on them. Junkman, UltraWomble, chaseracer and 13 others 16
Shep Shepherd Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Top stuff! I particularly like the 'Mauserkino' LED-based fuel and temperature gauge set-up, which in retrospect was way ahead of its time

LessThanEqual Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Sure the driver's name wasn't Marek? Either way, green Wartburg AND an RX8? Life winner right there. egg 1
Squire_Dawson Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 I'll never forget when we were on holiday in Northumberland, passing through Warkworth I sensed something out of the corner of my eye. It was only a bloody 'L' reg Wartburg Knight Tourist, lilac colour, pouring blue smoke out as it trundled along. I almost had a fit. Made my day that did. They were a very smart looking car. RayMK 1
SiC Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 This thread has taken a twist. It was only last month that you had 3 Mondeo's. Skizzer, Bucketeer, The Moog and 1 other 4
Hertz Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 This thread has taken a twist. It was only last month that you had 3 Mondeo's. HMC shuffles the shite fleet pack quicker than a Black Jack dealer in Las Vegas. Dave_Q, egg, SiC and 2 others 5
Shep Shepherd Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Obscure Shepfact: very late Wartburgs had Opel Vectra 'A' front seats and interior fabrics (and no doubt more), due to GM taking over the AWE factory and building Vectras alongside Warts for a time until they had built a new Opel factory nearby. The Treuhandanstalt did get one thing right, at least. egg 1
barefoot Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 They were a very smart looking car.Compared to what? Not a Cortina mk3 Coke bottle, I'm guessing.A fucking Marina was a better looking car back in the day!
MarvinsMom Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Compared to what? Not a Cortina mk3 Coke bottle, I'm guessing.A fucking Marina was a better looking car back in the day!HUBBA HUBBA!! it has arrived (AT LAST!!) and its just about as grim as we had hoped it would be. ah but you forget that this is the beige forum, the crappier, the more unloved the more unusual, the more the forum like it! would you like a wartburg? i would..... and i do like the marina, more than it is healthy to do so! eddyramrod 1

Shep Shepherd Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 I like the Wartburg 353/1.3. A lot. To me, it looks like a Neue Klasse BMW drawn by a young child Tadhg Tiogar, Dave_Q and Sudsprint 3
RobT Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 MEGA. Sod taking the Golf to Germany next month, take the Wart. I'm sure Mrs HMC would love that idea... It looks really tidy, is it a resto job or all original? holbeck and Shep Shepherd 2
