BorniteIdentity Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 It's not that it's that I have to juggle things round as I have a smart car that I need to get rid of and only one space on the drive so until the astra gets on the road once I got rid of my smart. My vitesse will have to stay on the road. Nothing about money it's a bargain. Just having to sell/scrap the smart car. Hope that you now understand my situationI was dicking about dude. Apologies if that didn’t come across. Anyone who has a Sinclair C5 and a Vitesse is my mate. Worth getting a Smart Car ad up on here? People love a fucked car around these parts. ESP a smoll one! montytom 1
Matty Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Because it's not November. I don't need it and can't house it till November. Damn damn damn damn . You know it's sods law there'll be nowt like this available on here when I want it!

hairnet Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Aye. From following posts on yours I get that impression. Most of the late 90s/early 2000s cars I've owned have been the same. Loads of high milers that work like new. Where have all the good cars gone??they stopped making them or they facelifted them which made them worse Matty 1
Wingz123 Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Could you PM me details on the smart car please? My friend had one back when they were new and everyone used to look at them wondering what they were! I remember being a passenger In it and being 6ft 5 was dreading it thinking I'd be crampt inside however was pleasantly surprised to find I could have been even taller and still had plenty of leg and headroom!! Please PM me if you can, Thanks, James
bezzabsa Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Astra.....8v.......REV counter........ velouuuur many miles by steam chuufa.... details of said ticket splitting??? or anyone going from yam yam land to that there cornwall/devon area?
gadgetgricey Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 details of said ticket splitting??? Basically www.splitticketing.com. Put the start stop in as normal, but it checks if buying smaller seperate journeys works out cheaper. You stay on the same train, just have five tickets rather than 1. Now you know the tickets, you can either buy on the split ticket website for £60 or buy the individual tickets yourself via the national trainline train website for £50, Plus doing it that way you can choose your seat, so know you will not have to move mid journey.
HMC Posted April 27, 2019 Author Posted April 27, 2019 Quite a busy afternoon at HMC control centre; Montytom now has the Astra, was a pleasure to meet him plus montytom_snr and talk shite. We had a rover Vitesse/ mk3 Astra convoy to Plymouth as I dropped it and then got a lift back, thought mid convoy the Astra was going to conk out as the fuel was right on the minimum, but just about got there! I also met the esteemed Dr fraud at the station, to collect the E240. Once again a true pleasure to meet another shiter, and hope the merc does you a good turn. Matty Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 Real deal, later on in the year I've had your arm off for that

I look forward to getting some use out of it. HMC and Dan_ZTT 2
Sigmund Fraud Posted April 27, 2019 Posted April 27, 2019 The E240T was duly collected from deepest*, darkest* Devon this evening. The 150 mile journey back to Chez Fraud was remarkably unremarkable, and made in complete safety and comfort. I can confirm that HMC is a true gentleman with a definitive flair for the purchase of bargainous old barges ! His description of the Mercedes was certainly on the pessimistic side ; she's in great condition and superb to drive ! I also met the esteemed Dr fraud at the station, to collect the E240. Once again a true pleasure to meet another shiter, and hope the merc does you a good turn. The pleasure was all mine, sir !!! Ohdearme and HMC 1 1
HMC Posted May 4, 2019 Author Posted May 4, 2019 No, not my Chicken Jalfrezi, but some reheated oriental leftovers, the beckenham giffer 800 (ex bramz) Hope your sitting comfortably. So I bought it off bramz, but almost immediately robt and 83c got involved too. It kept looking over with sad eyes whilst it was awaiting collection, and long story short- I’ve just bought it off Robt over the phone. And yes I’m hoping the NHS can help me with some sort of behavioural therapy too Sigmund Fraud, The Moog, Ohdearme and 8 others 11
HMC Posted May 4, 2019 Author Posted May 4, 2019 I blame the smell. MG/ROVER/ARG stuff has a very distinctive interior ambient odour to my mind at least (piss?) The Moog, BorniteIdentity and Marm Toastsmith 2 1
HMC Posted May 4, 2019 Author Posted May 4, 2019 Mind you it’s not anywhere near as fast as I Vitesse I recently had a lift in ? montytom 1
HMC Posted May 4, 2019 Author Posted May 4, 2019 With the Rover expansion tank being sorted (more of which anon) I’m sort of tempted to sell the avensis estate. I should probably keep it as it’s dependable and reliable and proven. Starts runs and drives well, new Bosch battery, a mountain of bills and history, body very good, the odd scuff and a previous welded repair to the rear sill each side, done tidily. Third gear can “snick” if you ram it in quickly when cold, and the stereo occasionally needs a thump on the head unit to get sound. Occasional clutch judder when setting off, no slipping and it bites cleanly. This is intentionally a half hearted ad as I’m not totally convinced the rover isn’t going to flake, and this Toyota is a great all rounder. However, If anyone is in need of a cheap estate with mot to march 2020 send me a pm. Shiters price £300. montytom and Aston Martin 2
The Moog Posted May 4, 2019 Posted May 4, 2019 Ahhh hence your spotting my coolant receptacle being in good nick. Just been out in mine on my private test track and it is a lovely old beast. As you say there is a Rover smell. HMC 1
HMC Posted May 5, 2019 Author Posted May 5, 2019 Had a great mini road trip with another shiter today- I’ll let him tell as it’s his story. But I can reveal the ever so steady and dependable avensis clicked over a photo-worthy mileage total, and I was surprised how deserted the Devon country lanes were on my return leg. Yes basically I had what can only be described as “fun” driving a leggy avensis. The Moog, Sigmund Fraud, Ohdearme and 3 others 6

One less thing to not have to worry about I suppose. 2 hours ago, HMC said: I had a similar landmark in the Sprinter on my way back, but by the time I'd got my shit camera to work the moment had passed. Daft, but pleasing, but frustrating. HMC 1
HMC Posted May 5, 2019 Author Posted May 5, 2019 It was an odd coincidence, I just pulled it to check the route and there it was. Yeah this now demands total reliability from the rover 800. Hmmmmmm. Marm Toastsmith 1

HMC Posted May 11, 2019 Author Posted May 11, 2019 The avensis is back up for sale at £300 see earlier post for full details, as also is the rover 800 at £200- the rover has about 5 weeks mot I’ll put a few more pics and details of the rover ASAP - basically genuine 69k from new and long term giffer owners.
HMC Posted May 11, 2019 Author Posted May 11, 2019 The Rover 800 is an 820si 4 door auto. 69k from new. It’s Within the last 1000 made. Dark green metallic, grey cloth. Starts drives runs great, slight exhaust blow and thr alternator has grumbly bearings. The coolant header tank - as is typical has been repaired and I have a replacement Volvo item to replace it- it doesn’t leak or loose coolant or anything but it’s a sensible upgrade. I’ve been using it daily and it’s on the button and very wafty. The interior is excellent with minimal dash lift and no stains/rips. Headlining good. Original rover radio cassette working , cd changer untested. Body very good. No rust I can see above or below. Some scratches and scuffs and a little scrape on the near side rear door. The paint quality is generally excellent except the lacquer on the roof looks a bit scratched/crazed- a light wet and dry may improve it. Contis all round, 2 keys and fobs- one wants a new battery- decent service history (genuine 69k) and books. Mot to June 16th from memory. Located Tavistock and id like £200 rainagain and jumpingjehovahs 2
HMC Posted May 11, 2019 Author Posted May 11, 2019 Ps on the last pic that’s the reflection of a cloud on the roof- not peeling lacquer- the roof lacquer is tired (but not peeling) only obvious up close
HMC Posted May 11, 2019 Author Posted May 11, 2019 Keeping the 800 but the avensis is still for sale. BorniteIdentity 1

Thank Christ for that, in a weakened state I was almost looking at train timetables there.... 800 is the missing link in my current fleet, but do I really need it ? Yeahbutnobutyeahbut....
HMC Posted May 11, 2019 Author Posted May 11, 2019 Ha ha, it was one of those moments where the putting the for sale ad together makes you realise you want to keep the car! I’m just a bit worried about my kids and the niceness of the interior.
