lesapandre Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 Looks good with the bumper off - more 'gas turbine'. The whine of that gas-turbine is just superb. tooSavvy and privatewire 1 1

HMC Posted August 20, 2024 Author Posted August 20, 2024 Ive been in touch with a fellow shiter about something 70s/80s. We chatted about it a few years ago but looks like its now happening. Not a very good clue but- thinking about the thread i recently started. It could have featured in the june 1992 autotrader in the cars under £1000 privatewire and timolloyd 2
HMC Posted August 20, 2024 Author Posted August 20, 2024 In fact the make and model is in one of these ads sdkrc, Schaefft, Tubbo and 2 others 5

wesacosa Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 Exciting as there's not many duffers in that list Hoping its the Kitten, Duster, Lada or Yugo but suspect it isnt GSA perhaps?
Bear Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 Mk1 Cavalier seems like the most appealing, yet also slightly shite option HMC 1

jonathan_dyane Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 Now I can't help but think about buying another car. I feel like someone that is affordable, on the road and 1950s or early 60s but which has seatbelt mountings. Maybe a P4 🤔 Rave 1

HMC Posted August 25, 2024 Author Posted August 25, 2024 Fleet news- 1. Rover P4 This has been a really nice thing to potter about in. Very usable and I love the whine of the unsynchro’d first and the smoothness and quietness of the engine. A forum stalwart is the new owner- ill let them do the reveal as and when. 2. Citroen GS @jonathan_dyane This should arrive tomorrow and just needs a bit of a HMC go over/ recommission before it becomes the latest tourist attraction in tavistock. 3. Lada Samara Im the new custodian of the ex @2110 Samara- it should be back here during the week and off to a tame welder. 4. VW caravelle Solid and reliable. Also everyone else with a t4 waves at me (!) Schaefft, jonathan_dyane, Split_Pin and 29 others 32
wesacosa Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 awesome. The Samara and the GSA are bloody brilliant . Carl1981 1

jonathan_dyane Posted August 25, 2024 Posted August 25, 2024 @HMC is deserving of some kind of medal for services to shite. He also rather graciously hasn't mentioned that the GS decided to commemorate leaving me my bursting a hydraulic pipe liberally covering the road outside my neighbours house and the man's nice lorry. Despite attention of sand followed by detergent the tarmac outside the neighbours still looks heavily soiled... sdkrc, barefoot, privatewire and 6 others 5 4

HMC Posted August 26, 2024 Author Posted August 26, 2024 Thanks for the haynes manual, im going to have a read and also read up on the suspension system and figure out where the leak was/ is 🤓
jonathan_dyane Posted August 26, 2024 Posted August 26, 2024 If it has any LHM left in it I would run it then re tighten (just finger tight for now) the pressure regulator bleed screw. It will then either start leaking or, if it has sufficient LHM, it will rise up. If it does that without leaking I suspect brake application will bring on the big leak. Be very careful though, don't go under it without axle stands and be aware that LHM is at such high pressure a high pressure leak if your hand/arm etc gets in the way could penetrate the skin potentially requiring amputation. Not to worry you like but forewarned is forearmed... HMC 1
