Fuck the rot, I'd love to drive them back to back... The differences would be so gloriously subtle as to be all but indescribable.

The throaty/ nascar but at times unpleasantly boomy exhaust? lets have a look…

Ah- no back boxes! Im all for v8 choons but this was unpleasant, antisocial and under load at about 2,000 rpm made your ears hurt. I got hold of a pair of back box delete straight pipes of the sort that the xk8 or many shiters has and fitted them after work. 

The difference is huge. Still sporty and nice but no awful booming and very discrete when you wish it to be. Perfect!

Also one of my sons made me an early xmas present at school….

Oddly enough I agreed on a deal yesterday that will see me end up in a very similar situation come the new year, including the chopped off back box! Great to see the straight pipe helps a little.

1. sold the chummy back to the person i bought it off- no longer have the little freebie garage behind work i can keep it in.

2. EML has come on the x308. Still runs fine. Not sure the “Kray type gangsters” would be keen on having dash lights aflicker and the generally flakey electrics that this particular example has, mind. Words would be had.

Agreed- i expected a much stronger likeness. See also- Joseph Stalin in a dressing gown added to a photo of my dog. (yes, that was also created  whilst drinking port that same evening)

Nice car, but felt a bit baggy at 186k compared to the 90k x300, even if it did look nicer than the shed-like x300, which whilst driving wonderfully, has actual moss growing on it in places

Woah nelly. There cant be many cars that have aged as well as the 6 series. A 2 door coupe 3 litre 6 manual would be an ideal wbod for me.

I really didnt like the styling on these in period, nae bother as i couldn't afford one. But IMO theyve aged well.

Wow, that's amazing, facelift even! Should be quite a jump in performance as well. I had the same engine in a 750i parts car. The previous owner just bought it and spent a bunch of money on it before the engine seized 😬 The gearbox in these isn't an SMG, right? I think only the M6 got that one.
