I went to view an XM V6 estate today (Pic somewhere in the grin thread).

Paint work was 40% lacquer peeled ,aircon/heating system was borked as was the trip computer.

It drove ok though. It had DIRAVI steering which I've only experienced with CXs, I was disappointed that there was no

wooshy- shooshy noise.

Seller could see I was disappointed so he offered another XM for free delivered to my gaff,

this one:

It's a 2 litre non turbo auto.

I know I'm doing Autoshite wrong but I declined this offer.

Anyway, here's more pics of other stuff on the sellers plot, all sold though :(

Wow. Nice day out even if it didn't result in sales joy. I desperately NEED an Ami 6 saloon in my life.

That 6 was really solid with an almost perfect interior. I did try to get him to "un sell" it and flog it to me.....

The V6 estate being a bit rubbish makes me feel better about not rushing off to France to acquire it. Nice pictures all the same though :)

It makes you think though how many good examples with no issues are left.

At a guess, I 'd have to say none.

The rot in my '96 MK2 XM was what struck me.  Oh it was not a premium product, what with creeping rot behind the underseal and bare spot welds(!) in the door structure.  It was like Lancia.

That was before the electrical excitement.

Yes of course I would still buy another one.

Given that we know these cars are shite, I'm desperately worried about the future.  What new shite is there out now to replace what we currently lust after in 20 years hence?

You forgot to mention that the seller's plot is the old railway station for Ménil-Vin! :-)

Lovely old railway station. Lots of closed rail lines in France and stations and crossing houses still lived in.

Those wibbly wobbly alloys are the best ones. I nearly bought an early manual prestige in black with black leather and those alloys but Roger Bradford wouldn't do a deal with the c5 he'd previously sold me.

Edit. I don't blame him, I didn't want it either
