I have stopped using my camper van for tip runs after Mrs Rocker complained of finding twigs in the bed one weekend.   So I occasionally take the back seat out of one of the Morrises and filling the car up with garden waste.  Haven't thought to take a photo though!   One day during the summer somebody was doing the same thing in a Fiat 850 Spyder - not that it held much.

My Volvo 740 hauling my Capri shell a few months ago.

It's a great tow car and made light work of the job. It's been used for several heavy dump runs, and collecting bags of concrete, bricks and timber this year too for my new garage. Not missed a beat!

A big old estate with a tow bar comes in really handy.

The Volvo, about to transport a standard double mattress to the dump a couple of months ago:

The car's ability to accommodate such items is very useful when road-tripping :)

Back when I was running Vulg's purple 1100 as a daily I found myself with a double mattress to dispose of so chucked it on the roof and ratchet strapped it on through the open windows.

It raised some eyebrows when I arrived at the tip and had to climb out of the window in order to unstrap it.

When I moved house years ago I was running a XR4i with no interior except two bucket seats - you can get a double mattress in a Sierra like that...

I recently got an elderly xantia 1.9td specifically for my work. I deliver fast foods, often clocking up 100 miles an evening. The fast foods consist of kebab, pizzas and fish and chip shop. I haven’t started yet, but you can guess what’s going to get shoved into the fuel tank! I’m going to go for a 50/50 ish mix of derv and waste once I set up my filtering system

No pics, but the XM was great for bags of cement because of self levelling suspension.

My Volvo has an old system fitted with Monroe air shocks. Just stick a tyre pump on the valve and pump it up as required. Works for heavy loads and it's also good for towing as you can hitch up the trailer then pump the shocks up to level out again.

Trouble is mine are old and leak pressure over time! Works long enough to get the job done though!

Currently in the process of moving house and so far everything bar one has been swallowed my 240. Double mattresses, wardrobes, sofas, carcassing joists, plaster boards and much more.

The only thing that didn't fit was the top half of a wall unit and that missed out by approx 2" :(

It was moved today using a Shitoen van. It didn't any more length in the back, just height.

Stopped doing that. Too many snails and spiders wandering about the car afterwards!

Every corner shop owner in West Yorkshire during the 1980s and early 90s swore by 740 estates, often massively overloaded from the cash & carry run

Second gear was inoperable due to rolls of carpet but the seamless torque* of the 998cc meant progress to the tip was swift*

There's a guy on the A4 between Hungerford and Newbury who sometimes used a reasonably rusty Rover sterling coupé to pull his kebab wagon (A4 kebabs).

Must admit I was impressed, looked a typical big car owner too, mullet, deep permatan, big boy also, reminded me of big Vern from VIZ.

You should have seen the crapped out van he used to use as a kebab van! Nearer the end of it's life, it usually only used to top out at 40mph along the A4.

My 20 year old 318i Touring hauls shit about - today taking bags of crap to the tip, next week an engine crane.
