Bristol has been and gone, poo count to 2, tried buying chewing gum and the self service machine threw a wobbly.

Hopefully not ominous.89c4297d2ccedcd73a81a2c605a83f28.jpg

A Greek/German estate? You've bought Windsor Castle?

It's right up your street Billy.

Is it you heading to Shropshire?

Posted

Just spotted it. Bloody good buy that.

Wish my friends, family and colleagues would agree, those of the Shite persuasion understand, the rest of them think I've taken leave of my senses.

Just spotted a sunroof in the advert pictures, which will come in handy today, it's ruddy gorgeous out there, getting more and more excited to pick this up now!

It will all go well. When it all goes well it'll be a frugal and very relaxing cruise back to your end of the country.

:-D

Not daft though, I booked the temporary insurance with breakdown cover for an extra £3 just in case.

Vauxhall Omega estate.

Diesel, for the German part.

(I was already thinking about an Omega estate, but then you mentioned Greek and that totally gave it away).

It is indeed, just over an hour to go before I meet the sellers brother who is picking me up from the station in... An Omega saloon!2eafc2bdb7d614b61ae043cd298ae2ef.jpg

Is it manual or auto?

If it's a manual, I hate you. Those straight 6 diesels sound awesome!

My research* reliably informs me that the Omega saloon is possibly a silver Elite. At least it has an Elite spoiler, so unless it's a Reflection special edition which came with the same spoiler UR IN 4 A TREET M9.

I am in no way F5ing this thread.

The best diesl engine they had, later (2.2) ones not as good imho. Getting the train to Oswestry is a nightmare, as the station (Gobowen) is a few miles away, iirc. Is the car at Bank Top Industrial Estate? The units look very familiar.

Posted

If it is Bank Top Industrial Estate then that's completely the other way from Gobowen station.

It's on the outskirts of the village St Martin's,which is halfway between Oswestry and Chirk...

Ooooh another Omega creeps onto the forum, I have a humungous stash of parts for these if you need owt

It's at Rednal Industrial estate.

That's where Linstrand and Branson put the high altitude balloon together all those years ago in a large airship hanger

May still be there as it's a privately owned airstrip

For the record, posting a picture of the purchase price was what led me straight to the car in question - there were only a handful of cars finished at £320 this month and this was the only one that day. You shouldn't have told me you were changed going trains as I was a bit confused at that point!

Looks nice though. I'm assuming it's not the ex Wobbler one?

There was a track day place there for go-karts, iirc. There was also a Volvo specialist with a decent collection of old choddy ones outside, plus a couple of 1970's Scanias not too far away. Did you ever go to the bike breakers on Bank Top, Andy?

*Soz for thread hijack :(

Nope.  Peter Simpson out of not-TV's CCW has got that one in Lincolnshire.

Some good work going on here. I wanted an Omega ever since I used to watch them on Road Wars, usually at about 2 AM when I'd come back from the pub half cut. I always thought those V6's sounded great chasing a nicked moped round some awful industrial estate in Slough.

Closest I ever came was a Vectra GSi. Nice car but not quite the same.

Top purchasing anyway, the 2.5 derv is meant to be GR31!
