Sitrep:

Stopped at B&Q in Gloucester to purchase overpriced grips in order to adjust the drivers seat to a more comfortable position.

Success.

We also bought tapas from Tesco next door for dinner.

Holy crap, that poor 320i must think nobody wants it.

Next time I do that much work on a car I should fucking keep it!

The 316i isn't going anywhere.

Ooofff now that's Hot! And you know watt? Now you can interact with other Daewoo owners, doesn't need to be a big wave or anything , A simple nod or a micro-wave will suffice.  They may even ping you a message , Little interactions like this can turn your life around in a zap.  Don't be too full on tho as it may get a bit heated, just let them stand for 1 minute if it becomes a bit much.

Having said that, I’ve already dug out a set of V class alloys and a pair of better seats for the front.

Just need some carbon wrap for the bonnet and we’re all set. Scene wanker or what?!! ?

Finally got around to giving the ex-HMC Vito a good poke yesterday...

Initial findings are very favourable. It’s had welding in the past, lots and lots of it, but it’s been done to a pretty good standard and is solid as a rock on the sills etc

It does need a bit of a tickle on the rearmost crossmember but nothing too serious

When driving, there’s a smell of exhaust fumes in the cab. The downpipe has fractured and been repaired with an ill fitting sleeve...

...this has now been discarded and replaced with a better quality joining piece.

Apart from the odd paint overspray and rather dog eared rear doors, everything else is good...it’s obviously been well looked after in the past...the brakes are fairly new all round, the front tyres are Michelin commercials with plenty of tread and the back ones are almost new Toyo commercials.

The outer sills and arches are pretty decent too...

The immediate plans are to weld the rear crossmember ready for an MOT then either attempt to repair the rear doors or indeed replace them if a pair can be sourced at a reasonable cost.

Once that’s done, it’s time for some cosmetics. There’s plenty of green paint in the back to do the panels that haven’t already been done thanks to HMC.

I’ve also got a pair of dark grey seats from a Saab 9-3 which will replace the rather tatty ones in the cab.

The worst panel after the rear doors is the bonnet. Given that the roof is gloss black and doesn’t look at all out of place, I’m seriously considering filling and flatting it and going a bit scene with the black wrap...

That’s my exhaust bodge! Is that lift yours? Very jealous.

Yep, it’s handy to own a garage when you’ve got a serious shite addiction ?

Feel bad for criticising the exhaust now...those sleeves nearly always leak though in my experience. I’m going to replace it in the morning with this one...

Ah didn’t reallise you owned a garage! No that exhaust repair was a true bodge, my first attempt at one- I normally bung it down to my local place. Great to see it getting a once over! Do you think it’s been chipped or do they just all go like that one?

Truthfully, I don’t know. It does pull pretty well for a 110cdi, doesn’t it? ?

Yesterday, one of my regulars came into the yard in his 12 plate Berlingo van...I actually heard it from the other end of the village as it was screeching it’s bits off.

He asked if I could take a quick look at his fanbelt as it was ‘squeaking a bit....oh, and the clutch feels a bit funny too’

After a morning spent pulling it to bits...

...yep, that’ll be the noisy belt then...

Christ knows how it made it here under its own steam...apparently it’s been squealing for a week or so and it’s been the full length of the country two or three times in that period!
