The Green Lean Machine - 1974 Ford LTD Leaving the GGG

Fuck! Looks like the ally trim took the brunt which saved the car (mostly) but on the other hand it's properly chewed up the trim. Getting hold of a new one isn't likely to be a pleasure.

If that had happened to me that post would have been destroyed in a rage induced vicious frenzied hammer attack!

I once hit a steel gate post in my old Volvo 244 as I came into my own driveway.

Heard (and felt) the impact, got out to check damage. Nothing on the car. Gate post was bent in half. I moved the car and tore the remains of the post out the ground and no more was said!

I too would be having that post down in an appallingly violent and mindless attack.

You will feel better about it all.

Bastard that JM, that post must die

I need that trim. Urgently.

Could anyone who has relations in Trumpreich please get on the keyboard and contact them for help?

Many cheers shall be with you.

Bumholes. Been there, done that with my Impala, caught the nearside rear wheelarch when leaving the Novotel at Knebworth. The management had thoughtfully placed some nice big rocks just where you turned left to go into Knebworth House. Luckily it polished out. Hope you can find the trim, if I hear of anything I'll let you know.

That post appears to belong to your neighbours.  Insurance, or death?

Their choice.

;)

It belongs to my landlord.

Not sure whether an insurance company is able to locate a left rear wheel lip molding for a 73 - 75 LTD sedan.

Do not like.

I should have some left over Semtex in the shed if you need it!

Are you sure that's something you really want to say on the internet? #OMGisis etc

Look at me, Ma!  Top of the world!

MM, yeah, look what happened to him.  Who are you, a Bond villain?

Anyway, it's the weekend now, so nothing will happen until Monday anyway.

One of the potential bidders has contacted me earlier and told me he has about 20 mid Seventies LTDs, Galaxies, 500s, Wagons, etc.

some restored, some half arsed parts cars.

I sent him a message asking whether he has one kicking about, but he hasn't replied yet.

I sent a parts request to a scrapyard in Rochester, NY, I dealt with earlier in life. If I'm lucky they have such a thing.

I even contacted Alex Takessian in San Diego.

The Junkwife facebooked her friends and relations in Canada and Trumpreich, some of whom are car guys.

So I'm confident something will happen next week. Heck, every junkyard photo you see is full of them damn things.

Is it Halloween yet?

Must have come early this year. There's two chumps here dressed like the Men in Black.

I've just thrown some sweets at em and shut the door.

Ha, Desert Valley have a '74 LTD in the yard!

I tried them a while back for a selection of smaller parts, bits of interior trim, power window switches etc but they didn't seem interested in selling them to me. Maybe they couldn't be arsed with international post?

Shipping will be about 5 times the part cost from Trumpreich

And what does the alternative look like in your opinion?

Not a lot sadly, I was doing lots of googling, I have a feeling the Yank breakers in East Angular have gone boom, sod all listed, and Cas Am only have engines for sale

I have a friend visiting from Murrica in about three or four weeks time, I'm sure I could persuade him to bring the trim over, he's brought stuff over for me before now. You could get it sent to him although I'll ask him nicely if he'll do it.

You need a flashing red light for the roof, an old police 2 way radio and US spec woo woos, and sell it as a Carkeys & Clutch replica for a millionty billion pounds, just like all those red tomatoes that keep popping up
