I was looking at foads today and he said they are known for hgf. No warning just let go.

That's a shout, maybe see if they can tow you to foads?

Still on the positive side at least you have a nice hard shoulder rather than a smart motorway.

Arse though, are these the ones where a new head casting is only £200?

Shit. We're in Buckinghamshire. Not sure what assistance we can provide though. Fill engine with rainwater?

What a pisser, sorry I can't help and I hope you get back at a reasonable hour.

Are you still near Frankley???

How long are the Rac going to be.

Do you want me to bring a cuppa, I'm about 10 mins away

He's on the M40 Now. Trying to work out where.

He's between Gaydon and Banbury we think. Arse. Still quite a trek from here.

If they dump you at oxford services ill try and help, I'm not far

Posted

Aye, m40 just north of Banbury I think.

Thanks for all offers of help but nothing anyone can do here. I picked a shitty place to stop apparently. I didn't want to force it to the next exit and cook it properly.

Can you get them to tow you to Festival of the Unexceptional tomorrow? You might win a cup at least...

Posted

Dunno. There is a suspicious lack of communication on that. Will see what the flatbed driver says when/if he gets here.

Posted

Good to know that you are on your way at least.

I'll head home.

M40 southbound milepost 130.3.

"we will send a flatbed."

Small orange van turns up.

"you need a flatbed."

No shit.

This happens nearly every time!

I had it with a broken propshaft on the Ginetta, 2 broken alloys on the W8 and the S class automatic.

Every  time I have said "needs a flatbed or trailer" every time a small (car sized) van has turned up

Only time they listened was when I used GEMS (Guild of Experienced Motorists) and they send a local garage who listen to you!

We can offer temporary storage at the Field of Dreams if you need it. And probably lifts to various parts of the UK tomorrow.

Gadgetgricey, I am humbled that you went out and I apologise if I sent you on a wild goose chase.

What you need is a *Quality 4x4 pickup...

My ranger blew its head gasket on the way back from collecting Eddy's Rover, I noticed at Tebay it was boiling from the expansion tank so we filled the radiator with another 3 litres of water and kept driving. 150 miles later it had used 3 more litres and the temp shot into the red. Leaving it to cool off then topping it up got me home.

Apparently they are bad for the cylinder heads cracking.

I thought he'd bought the Frontera.

What's the update?

Don't be daft, I'm just annoyed that I only read the thread when you had been collected.

It's not nice being on the hard shoulder especially when it's pissing down with rain.

As it turns out I was only out for five mins.

Dug the flask out, grabbed some bikkies and got in the car. Checked the mobile on the way to the motorway and realised that you had moved on, so took a crappy photo and headed home.

Hope you get the home home without to much trouble and it's a relatively easy fix.

Cheers
