That twin-engined 2CV... no room for fuel tank in front or back so it is under drivers seat, balls of titanium needed

Thanks for posting pics btw.

Is that the SD1 Tony Pond wrapped round a tree on the RAC? I seem to remember the WOE reg number!

Edit. No it's not, close though.

Yehbut yehbut... Honda Jazz hopefully has a firewall and more than just a canvas deck chair to sit on

Love the Gartrac Escort.

Couldn't get any more Essex... pair of blokes take a Ford, modify it, and name it after their kids Gary and Tracey.

No worse than just about all SWB series landrovers.

I think I can see a Starion in the background behind the Celica.

Oh yeh my 90 has the tank under my ass too . Didn't some military ones have the filler under the seat too ?

Oh and battery under the passenger seat too for added sparks in a roll over !

Look at how high the expansion tank is in the 6R4. Mounted near the roof, must have had to put it there because it was a bigger to bleed, can't see otherwise why you'd put it there.

Not just military , on all Series 1s you have to take out the driver's seat cushion and lift a flap to access the tank. So you have a thin sheet of Birmabright + a layer of Plywood + a bit of foam between you and th e tank, positively 5 star safety rated.

My S2 Ltwt didn't even have a flap, just the seat between me & a slightly flammable liquid.

Actually my Lightweight had a second petrol tank under the passenger seat and two batteries under a metal cover where the middle seat would have been

indeed - Lotus Sunbeam. well spotted.

not sure what you mean about the 6R4 though?  have noticed that the middle pic is a 6R4, but the other two are def 8R4.

I believe they are still 6R4s, but in 'Clubman' spec they come with a Rover V8 not the 'half a XJ220' V6.

Posted

They never came with a v8,only the v6 which had different states of tune to differentiate between clubman and international

If it's a v8 fitted it's probably for cost issues

I got a few action shots at the rally stage, which was incidentally my highlight of the show. Adding them here seems appropriate.

It was an honour to be showered in dust and grit and, in some cases, BFO rocks by such fine conveyances

RS200 looks like it was designed to have pop-up headlights but someone changed their mind at the last moment- I never noticed that before.
