Rave's First Collection Thread - Now Pug 106 Welding advice pls

Greetings all,

I've been a member here for 9 months or something, and to my shame have yet to buy a car or do a collection thread. Time to put that right; digital monies have changed hands, insurance has been purchased, so it's all go.

Unfortunately there's not going to be an interesting surprise at the end, the car I'm collecting has been featured on here at some length, and passed through the hands of several shiters before me. All I have to offer to try and stop this being the most boring thread of all time is my method of transport to the pick up point- it could be great, or it could go badly wrong in any number of ways. All will be revealed in an hour or so, I hope.

Right, I'd better hit the road, I'm already a bit behind schedule!

When can we start guessing ?

You are going by hang glider?

That "could be great or go badly wrong in any number of ways."

6 miles in and I'm already sweating heavily. But to good news is, the wind's behind me!

I'm on a ferry.

TakeOff is optional - Landing unavoidable :)

90 minutes in and I haven't even made it to Romford. Had to stop at Morrisons for a piss and figured I might as well eat my breakfast. Hoping to hit some faster roads and grind out some miles soon.

Posted

Nearly made it to Chelmsford. Really not enjoying the A12 so branching off to try and find a more scenic route.

Good move getting off the a12, it's bad enough in a car.

One presumes that either Rave is swapping his bike for a new ve-hic-le, or he's getting something big enough to stuff it in the back or on the roof.

Is it a Rover 75 Tourer ?

Posted

You've done 90 continuous minutes on a bike? You must be superhuman!

Is that even possible?

I think I know what hes going to collect. A verified WilsonWilson cast off.

Could you narrow it down a bit?

Would you like to borrow this which is useful for a vehicle near the AX12 ?

I still don't know what it is, (all the Wilson mobiles could be considered amazing in some shape or form) but whatever it is I can't see him a-framing it with a push bike

Posted

Wasn't there some Daihatsu?

That could be a-framed with a pushbike. Using a coathanger.

Promised myself a lung conditioner once I reached Colchester.

Anyway this is proving to be every bit as much of a stupid idea as I'd hoped. Between here and my final destination is an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty, according to Google. I assume that means hills, and my legs are sore already. Need to be there by 6 otherwise I can't get a pic of me and the current keeper Woolarding the car. Will I make it?

PRACE BETS NOW!!

That is indeed one of the most kamikaze collection methods we ever had on here.

I must try harder next time.

Craziness! There's a nice long hill at Dedham to look forwards too also!

I've now cottoned on to where you're going.  If you map it right, Bishop's Hill is the final hurdle.  It is so steep that I once clocked a calibrated 55 mph downhill on a child's mountain bike.

Going up it though?  Never accomplished.

Ahh right, think I've got it now too.  Involved JohnK at some point, but I won't spoil the surprise!
