Nice find.... I didnt check gumtree...nice price too mind, but if thats their worth , i guess that their worth. I would have a grand for it, more than that it just doesnt seem vfm. Woudl look ace next to the allegro though. Nice local plate too. Possibly worth an email..... :)

Compare to the price of a 70s mini and suddenly look cheap (rwd, rust free body,60mpg etc)

There's a chap in Brechin who has loads of plastic pigs.

Operates out of an industrial unit so might just be in the business of selling them.

True...... But i wouldnt want a mini...nor would she..... We both far prefer the underdog.... Her one was a van shape with windows in blue , she used to go up and down from Aberdeen to st andrews uni in it, and loved it, it was replaced by her x19, which we still have... I shall consider the yellow one, but if anyone sees one about, do add to the thread. Cheers. L

Hi this one is local old codger owned. Sure he'd never sell for sensible money, but if I hear he's conked out, I'll let you know.post-20279-0-70286900-1491860121_thumb.jpgpost-20279-0-53683600-1491860149_thumb.jpg

I know one that my mate ran for about 5 years but it's off the road indoors now . Will ask how much and if he wants to sell it .

Couldn't be much further away from you mind . Could put it in a Jiffy bag and post !

Interesting, where about? Parents live not to far away so could pop up for a look sometime.

Industrial estate on the Montrose road, there's a car dealer, a joinery workshop and the reliant place with no sign above the door.

Not helping the search for a Kitten but a lad I used to be in the Imp club with many years ago, had one of these in the early 80s and fibreglassed some baadasssss wide arches on it to make it look MEAN(er).

One evening, out tearing the town up in his Kitten, he sped round a corner (relatively) to find a broken Scimitar being hauled onto a towtruck right in his way. He was unable to stop and ploughed strait into it. Thankfully, he had lobbed so much fibreglass on the wheelarches, the reinforced kitten made light work of the Scimitar and he pretty much drove straight through it coming to a stop with his Kitten parked in the back of the Scimitar.

Due to the strength of his modifications, his car was on the road again in no time with very little little work. The same could not be said of the Scimitar. *

*Story was told to me in a pub over 20 years ago I cannot be held responsible for any artistic licence of the person who relayed the story to me in the first place or any errors or omissions caused by my poor memory and alcohol problems in the intervening period.

I also wouldn't touch that Red van at that money. I'm familiar some of the sellers online postings and based on his own comments I would not want to own anything he had "restored."

For example in the ebay advert he Says:

The engine I build for the vehicle is a later robin 850, it had a mileage of around 60,000 and is very good internally as i replaced all the gaskets/seals, timing chain/tensioner, new fuel pump, waterpump, reconditioned starter motor, I bought a brand new SU carb with a polished top which cost £250 alone! it also had fitted a 65amp alternator, the cylinder head is a E high compression version which had the valves reground and new stem seals fitted and then skimmed/pressure tested.

Yet on March 6th he posted to the Reliant owners forum:

Well other week out of nowhere i was driving to the MOT in my kitten van, it passed its mot and on the way back i could smell something and the temp gauge went to 3 quarters (never goes over centre)anyway after i pulled over i found coolant all over my engine, so much compression in the system made it fire out of the expansion tank

But its ok he fixed it:

well today i managed to drop another engine in i bought 3 engines for £30.......one was a good runner apparently

I think for £3500 you should probably expect something better than a £10 random engine,  VERDICT: Chancer.

I've had to fix his work first hand, supposedly replaced brakes, all were locked solid.

Underseal and chequebook paint.a no nothing kid trading on daddy's driveway,oh and he's a cunt.

I'd be very suspicious of why his daily driver is suddenly for sale, note no reason given

In some ways I miss relianteering,in others I'm very glad I'm out of it.
