interior a bit minging, but ok £50,had to make quick dash to get it taxed, still had the old style logbook, not recognised on dlva car tax section, due to only having 11 numbers, and not the usual 12sprayed lower rear shock bolt with wd40,will do it later today, just hope no locking wheelnuts..

Looks a bargain!

For a Ford Fusion

Posted

was prev from polar ford scarborough, has a 1.6 engine,,not changed the rear shock yet, small brake pipe bit rusty, will sand down, spray with black matt paint, then grease, before test,no locking wheelnuts fitted, might slap some hammerite underbody seal, have found some lrft over,..

Posted

As absolutely vile as these things are, that's an utter bargain.

Even I think that was a bargain.  Well done!

You are just unbelievable. Always amazed with what you find. But you should change your name from "The Shadow" to "The Womble"

"Making good use of the things that you find, things that the everyday folk leave behind"

right changed the rear shocker, than slapped on some leftover blackhammerite unseal,on rear chassis legs, etc, previous advise, was rear brake pipe, sanded down, sprayed with anti-rust primer, than matt black paint, than dolloped on some grease,,lower rear shocker bolt came out ok,coated in copaslip, torqued back up,see pictures,as you can see it was well leaking..

I hate these cars, and the sort of people who drive them, ever since some old dear pulled out of a side road in one without looking, and T-boned my old Rover. Universally badly driven in my experience.

Posted

so that was one nil to ford :-D they do have good brakes, service will come next week, have found someplace hell of alot cheaper than euro, micksgarage, gsf etc..tyres due soon for part worns, all rather baldie,or near as.

the other is fine, looks like it was done few years ago, looks like i will have to tackle the front top strut mount, that shock is leaning, was previous advise,

Posted

Just the one shock replaced ? 😔

Well this is bodging £50 scrappers to sell them for £300 after all, ain't nobody got margin for that

mot goes in tomorrow, drover over speedbump, crack, drivers side went down, spring had broken in 3 places, top strut mount was no good, shocker was well knackered, got a sachs front shocker, new spring,nw top mount/bearing,so all now done,

As terrible as these things are, I think they're fantastic. A taller, less neat-handling Fiesta that's easy to get in and out of, with a decent boot and lots of space inside, as well as reasonable ground clearance that make it useful on shit roads.

It was appallingly marketed, though and ended up with far too many owners named Ethel or Derek.

These are quite nice I think. Comfy to drive and feel well built. The inlaws have one, I don't understand the gap between the B pillars and the tops of the doors on the inside though. Have a look to see what I mean.

Is there a way to the MOT without speed bumps? I'm thinking about you preserving the other 3 springs :)

Posted

well it passed, just usual advise oil leak,2 advise front tyres, went round sharpish to partworn place, had two fitted for £30,all the reat springs still ok,not fell off, :-D
