How feasible to take an A Frame in carry on luggage and bring two back  :-D

Not necessary!

Is anyone else deliberately shopping for cars near the Greek border?  A couple of hundred miles extra could save a lot of mig wire.

I haven't even looked at cars yet, it is a few months away so I would imagine a new crop of fine automobiles will be available

FFS. I was doing so well at resisting the temptation to get dragged into this daft caper. Now I'm looking at Ryanair flights and realising that my passport expires on 22nd May and will therefore need renewing.

Not to worry we just had the kids ones renewed they were back on the 4th working day!! I'm still in shock - mind mine and my wife's haven't turned up yet.

The time off work has been approved and the ticket for the 23rd has been booked, so the you can confirm me as being 100% in now.

1 ) The Moog

2 ) The Moogs Mate - Craig

3 ) Bucketeer

4 ) Catsinthewelder

5 ) Skattrd

6 ) holbeck (not yet checked I can get holiday from work though).

7 ) Dollywobbler.

8 ) Brodders

I have been looking at car rental for when we are sourcing shite over there, and would be happy to be one of the people who hire one, as I will probably be one of the first out there. If people are happy for me to do that, I will get something booked.

Also, I would be willing to car share back to England if anyone here was still considering coming out but didn't want to buy a car. However, you would be stuck in a car with me for 1500 miles, so consider yourself adequately warned.

Yes, mine came back within four days too. Must get a flight booked...

Is there already a flight / date to aim for?  or are we going to meet up in BG. (Slightly hypothetical in my case as it might not be domestically possible).

I've just booked the flight from Birmingham to Sofia on 24th. Being Ryanair, it seemed quite cheap at first, but has ended up being £82 because I actually want to take some luggage...

Still, at least that means that the flight is now more expensive than the train to get to Birmingham.

Will get on to my flights this evening.

Regards to car hire, I was sort of assuming taxis were cheap so would use them.

I've just booked the seat next to DW.  Again I've paid a bit extra so I can take some luggage.  Best book the train now I suppose.

This is sort of getting real isnt it..

Yay!

I haven't booked the train yet, as the price is ridiculous. On my preferred cheap-ticket sites, you can't book past April at the moment.

I'm holding off booking anything until I find out if I get a contract renewal ... hopefully I should find out in a few days.

Accommodation a bit closer to Veliko Tarnova if that's what you're after

I'll get prices but iirc it's around 250 for the whole place per night

So to be clear, you're going on the evening flight?

Is that 250 in Sterling, or in levs?

Not that it would make a difference, it is still a good price.

Also, I don't know if it has been decided yet, but does Bucketeer plan to be over there on travels before us? Or will he be coming out at roughly the same time?

I think that's the only one isn't it? Two of us on row 20 so far.

Whatcom time you be landing?

Don't forget the 2hr to add on.....

2350hrs, which I'm assuming is local time given we take off at 1835hrs.

I thought I'd look into the lingo, and have found the only phrase we need.

https://www.omniglot.com/soundfiles/bulgarian/idontunderstand_bg.mp3

It means 'I don't understand.' Then it's just pointing and shouting in English.

Or we could learn a bit more.

I'm looking forward to the YouTube videos already!

An old man in an ageing Berlingo just struggled up my snow covered lane to deliver my passport,  excited now. 8)

I've been thinking about Channel crossing on the way back. Just turning up is hideously expensive, but I'm reluctant to book something until I know I'm definitely bringing something back.

In short, I think I'll try and book something on the way back. We'll have plenty of time after all.
