Any plans for a meet? I'm in Gosport for 3 weeks, with car this time, not bicycle.

None that I am aware of, but I'd be up for something before Crimbo.

WHS.

Although I'm away next weekend.

Okay, let's sort something.

As I have 4 weeks work to complete before Xmas. ...yes I know. .....it is unlikely I will be able to spare any time but will keep an eye on the thread just in case I can wangle a few hours off. ...

Yeah this is going to be the difficulty.....Seems to be something or other "going on" this month, can't think what but its taking up a lot of time and money.    I take it a weekend is best for folks but they all seem to be spoken for.

I'd be up for this but let me know when good. This weekend is bad, the following weekend is better, then the one after that is bad again I think. Umm so the 17th and/or 18th? The hovercraft museum is good for a saturday?

I need to go out on Saturday 17th (night) but could potentially be at Lee on Solent during the day.   I think its the only Saturday this month I am free.

I'd love to whizz down , but pre Crimble is difficult, for me,sadly.

However the gap between Xmas & the New Year looks a stack better for me.

Just a suggestion, like!

Think we were originally trying to accomodate the Squire who I presume goes back oop North before Santa comes.   If so, the only Saturday between this one and the evil day is 17th.  Which Mrs Rocker has not yet squandered.    Between Xmas Day and New Years Day there is only one Saturday which is Xmas Eve....Early January, anyone?

17th or 18th not a problem for me. Yes, will be heading home before Christmas!

So, to dredge this back up - any interest in the hovercraft museum this weekend? Would be sat 17th and its open 10am til 4pm. Free parking opposite and whatnot - is that interesting to anyone?

We can do something else too/instead of - but this weekend is the only free one I have this side of crimble day.

I can squeeze some time out of the day.    Need to be somewhere early evening (at home getting ready to go out, to be precise) but I can do a meet up at some point during the opening hours.....Anybody else?

Posted

Yep, sounds good. How about later in the morning, say 10.30?

10.30 works for me.....going with the flow here if there needs to be any alteration, though.

10:30 is good with me too, depending on weather I may cycle down.

***EDIT*** Potential spanner > works interface, the site says they are closed for winter now, but that there is a 'Santas Grotto' event there this weekend. I'll give them a bell in the morning to see whats open, if the whole place is still open for people to wander around then I shall consider the opportunity to sit on Santa's knee and tell him what I want for christmas as a bonus, if its more limited then perhaps we shall have to find an alternative venue.

***EDIT (2)***

Blog sez its all open:

Nov 17th

Santa is visiting The Hovercraft Museum this year. Come down on Saturday 10th and 17th to meet him on our SRN5 hovercraft. The whole museum will be open as usual and all visitors are welcome whether they wish to see Santa or not! The museum will be open both days from 10am till 3pm. There is no extra cost to enter the museum this Xmas, but an extra £3 is required if you wish to see Santa. We hope to see you there with your Santa hats!

£3 to sit on Santa's knee is a bargain.

I'll bring three quid alright.  I wanna ask the prick what happened to the Johnny Speed car I wanted in 1968.....

I shall be there anyway, probably sans hat.

Was good to see fellow shiters again today and have a poke about the museum, I'll get some of the pics I got up tomorrow but I think the Squire and Mercrocker got many more than I did.

Plenty of new stuff on display since my last visit which was good.

Good shout on the meet up, Stanky.  I got to see the Solara (and Squire too of course) and although I took some pics they are unfortunately steam driven and won't be available from the chemist until after xmas....

If anybody else is passing within a half hour drive of the hovercraft museum it is well worth a visit and very absorbing.   The big SRN4 is a truly awesome thing.

Was a good catch-up and the museum was great, especially our own little guided tour and getting to play with all the controls in the cockpit. I have a couple of photos on my mobile I can put up once home but, like Mercrocker, took most on film.
