Bollocks, misson aborted temporarily; I cannot get it to start.

It is unexpectedly diesel.

5 hours later and he still aint got it started ? Must be French or Italian ??

I had a limit on time so I will revisit another day. It's has been off the road for years and I wrong?y suspected that it was a small engined petrol, as it was it is a diesel of the worst flavour.

Realistically we will end up towing it home.

Nope, it is a miserable non turdo 1.4 unit in something from the early '90s.

Collection is postponed until later in the week as I cannot find my towrope.

There is a correct answer in there somewhere. It hasn't seen the road in 7 years but was moved recently, unfortunately a even a hefty set I jump leads couldn't coax life into the engine.

It spins over fine but won't catch unless some propellant is added down the inlet. I shall take some proper easy start next time!

I'm going with an AX... in blue!

Allow me to introduce some tedious predictability at this point...

The Ax's exhaust split in protest of a new car, so that's off to a local fab shop to be repaired. Meanwhile the Jumbuck is pressed back in to service as it has remained unsold.

A mate used to have one of these, and we set out one evening with spare fuel In the boot to see how far it would go on a half a tank. Needless to say we gave up trying to run it dry

It's home.

Fairly uneventful collection really. I was lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time for once to bag a decent battery for a fiver from the garage behind my house.

Still haven't had the pug running so my mate Barry towed me back using Mrs R's Berlingo.

I think no.1 injector is faulty as it seems to get covered in diesel whel cranking. I hope I can still find 1.4d parts!

Splendid purchase there - that makes two TUD3 beauties at least on the forum!  Krujoe has the one he got from Cavcraft.

It could be the injector pipe that's cracked - the TUD3 in my Metro had this happen and it wouldn't start unless the throttle was mashed into the carpet, and dropping lots of diesel on the deck in the process.

That's not a bad shout, I'll give the battery a boost later and have a proper check of the glow plugs.

Glow plugs out and tester as ok, it'll still only go on easy start.

It's been stood up a while, is it possible the diesel has gone bad?

We shall know later, I have some fresh to try. I'll plumb in after the fuel filter and see what happens.

To be honest it isn't looking too hopeful for the little thing. I haven't yet got into the boot to see if it still has a floor.
