.. & the forgotten half sister - The Renault R series

That was even based on an existing Berliet designed, an example being of this French lorry driver picking up a prostitute in 1978:

It will then be a Scotstoun built Albion Reiver with the Leyland Redline Cab. Will be a six wheeler too. Me Fail.

Scammell crusader, sounds fantastic. The videos of the scammell constructor recovery trucks built in the 50s 60s still doing a days work today are marvellous too.

How about one of the last Guy (taken over by albion I believe) Big J8s still on the road in the uk?

Stuff like this (the scraper has a v8 up front and a v8 at the back, and then the bulldozer with the turbo spooling its tits off) is the reason my old man and his pals are all a bit deaf these days...

Sorry that isn't lorries is it, bugger. I got a bit carried away with all the throbbing diesel engines and black smoke belching out!

Nope, that and extreme cold starts, or engines which haven't run for years. I'm not sure whether SWMBO would prefer I was looking at 'real' porn though!

Taken over by Jaguar, along with Daimler in the early '60s

Guy lost a fortune from a dodgy South African dealer network and the Wulfrunian bus fiasco and were taken over by Bill Lyon's Jaguar cars who got the firm for a song. The 'J' in 'Big J' stands.for Jaguar.

Albion became part of the Leyland Group in the mid '50s.

Nice example btw!

Yeah, I do all that looking at vids of long dormant engines being started, extreme cold starts, diesel two strokes, old BR locomotives with all kinds of weird and wonderful power units.

I did actually drive one of those Detroit powered ERFs in the late 90s, good engine but the truck was a Piece of shite, like it had been nailed together in a hobbyists back yard. They were not two strokes unfortunately.

I passed a modern DAF XF today with that old 'Leyland' script across the front. Looked pretty good to be fair.

Just shown Mrs_Pillock the Scania V8 video. Had to grab her a towel to sit on, she does like a nice truck.

Fantastic! I love the TK and KM. I read that on the KM, as the engine filled most of the available space the flaps on the side gave insufficient access so the whole cab had to be removed for bigger jobs.

Last weekend I was stuck behind a Bedford TL Horsebox on a country road. J plate. Was that as late as they got?

Didn't another company buyout the tk design ? Was it awd or something similar . Actually it was the later squarer can Bedford they used I think

Should be an AWD at that age. I think they were owned by Marshall's of Cambridge who bought the production rights for Bedford trucks when Bedford was closed but I'm not sure. Anyone know any different?

Sold through Vauxhall dealers for a short time in the early 90s? I seem to remember 1991, ma getting a Mk2 Astra from a dealer labeled as Vauxhall/Opel/GM/AWD.

I thought all AWD trucks were all wheel drive once.

Yes. AWD took over production of the TL using a Perkins phaser engine and also the TM in 4x4 military form, and they also made at least one prototype bonneted tank transporter based on the TM. to be viable as a company they needed big fleet orders which proved elusive
