Yeah these Rovers are leagues ahead of most of their period competitors in terms of driving experience and modern-day usability. Yours looks a cracker Trig, well bought 8)

There is some quality stuff being shown on here lately,i am feeling rather inadequate at the moment....

you need a series 2 xj6 now to pull off being the posh end of a BL dealer from the 70's/80's

And a Triumph for the Jaguar-Rover-Triumph look

He's already got a showroom-ready Triumph, the Dolly SE!

Great buy Trigster, can't wait to meet this at some point.

I reckon that's easily fixed by posting up some more Brat pictures - lots of Subaru love :-)

Of course he has - doh! I think I even  read a post about it yesterday!

I actually understand Frank Gallagher's comment now!

Is it going to be at Chodmolestly?

Sadly not due to distance and time this year but I'm hoping next years Shitefest will be back in Wales again so i can take it there!

Also I'm thinking at some point (probably as a Christmas present) of changing the plates for a set of Tippers raised rivet plates instead of the current ones which were fitted in 1982 when the car was restored the first time (and stamped with the garages i.d who did the work), that would look better don't you think?

I don’t think there’s too much wrong with the ones it has on.

I think you need to concentrate more on buying a pub and becoming a jovial 1980s landlord. P6s (and Triumph 2000/2500) were the default choice back then.

Unless it's a P6 V8, in which case you need to become a 1990s hitman who doesn't tolerate foul language when his son is present.

Good buy there Trig!

I had one of those and kept it 3 whole years (which is a bit of a record for moi...)

You did in fact pap it at Rougham in 2010:

Do miss it.  But it had to go to help get that house deposit together.  Loved the Rover, hate the house.

Rover 2000's remind me of an old, well worn but extremely comfy pair of expensive brogues.

Good call, they do the correct P6 specific rear plates too.

That looks really nice trigger. Having driven my cortina and my p6 back to back I can contest the cortina is dreadful to drive in comparison. There's more nostalgia attach to the cortina for me anyway but the p6 is a way superior machine .

I'm honestly really impressed with the car, i can't believe how cheap they are compaired to the Cortina, this cost exactly half the amount that i sold for the Mk3 for yet it feels twice the car.

Just superb! What is there not to love about the Rover P6?  8)

Absolutely lovely, my favourite British car by far, would love to own a god one one day.  Nice history too!

I learned to drive in a 2200SC at the end of the 80s - fatha-FDB was a proto-Autoshiter - and it handled poor roads at high speed beautifully. Good grip, good brakes, a fine ride - often compared with the DS on account of the sub-structure.

Seem to remember the engines need fresh oil every 3000.

I think you need to drive this wearing a cravat, and you need to grow a Terry Thomas tash :)

Apparently it's the same as the car that Harry Hills nan drove in his recent film.
