Oh Christ it took less than twenty four bloody hours...

Admittedly, it wasn't that spectacular.

I was going round a roundabout which is on a hill on a dual carriageway, so was using just enough throttle to maintain speed up the hill, and halfway round (I was heading straight ahead), the back end just went "Oh, hello!" and I gave it about 1/8 of a turn of opposite lock, then the back end did a lovely lurch as it regained grip.

the top of Duffus dip is one hell of a place to spin - my co-driver spun off at the same place on Saturday, no damage to us or the car but he did get a black flag and given a telling off from the marshal.

I did the same thing years back when I took the 944 on track, I was just about used to driving the mazda but was quite clueless about how much quicker the porker was so went blasting into the corner way way too fast and ended up spinning 720. I fair papped me pants, I can tell you :)

Yup, that's where I rolled my first X1/9. I got to the track yesterday after 3, everyone had gone and I couldn't see a thing :(

drove like a beemer then :D

I'd like to clarify I was in the Megane at this point

Have a look on the Knockhill facebook page, they have a video of the day. I think a certain Panda and Starlet may be on it :)

Posted

Well, that's me booked for this Sunday.

Who wants to see a shagged out LS400 plunge into the Firth of Forth?

Posted

If nobody else is going I might take the Xantia instead. Curious to see how it goes round a track too.

Posted

Weather forecast looks not to be pissing down, Depending on the weather I will be along to view the goings on at least.

Posted

Oh alright then. I'll take the LS400 for your amusement.

Posted

I think so?

He's working on Saturday but not sure about Sunday. Tayne also said he may try to get out of working Sunday, but I don't know.

Just as I write that post I notice 17-Coffees is reading this topic...

I am going to drag the starlet along to Knockhill on 2nd April.

Anyone else fancy it??

Posted

Start of the kids holidays so I will have to see what happens a bit nearer.

Posted

Unlikely to have spare vehicle for this one so only the starlet to run.

I've got the Cadillac on the road but I recon it'd be totally shit on the track.

Cort, I was in Ayr Car Breakers the other day at out the corner of my eye on the way out I think I spotted a Cadillac the same as yours. I mine be wrong though. Just as you go in on the left hand side. If you need any bits it might be worth a call. As I say, I might be completely wrong though.

I took a shagged-out Lexus LS400 that was suffering massive electrical failure round the track... Where's your sense of adventure?!

I don't have anything nearly as hilarious to take round at the moment... yet.

Cadillac would be awesome.

I have discovered that the vel satis doesn't like being hustled on at all. Many wheel screeches and a massive side portion of body roll. So maybe for crail but not knockhill.

I feel like the Golf would be entirely too competent to be funny. I also think I've agreed to go to a friend's dance show that day. I can't remember, oops.

Embarrassingly I actually had no idea where Knockhill was, so I just Google Mapped it.  Feck me.  Do they have many issues with polar bears wandering onto the track?

Posted

No they round them up with the wild haggis to make sure the track is clear.
