Rover 25 TD - FREE to a good home. Or any home.

As I no longer have any need for this shitheap, after much deliberation I have decided to burden someone else with it give it away.

Its a 2001 Rover 25 TD, I picked this up in October 2015 for a whopping £132 as the previous owner thought it was fucked. It smoked like a chimney and barely moved, but all it needed was a split intercooler pipe replacing and the MAF unplugging, £35 and 1 hour later and it runs fine. I changed the oil and filter at the same time.

It looks pretty crap to be honest, its one of the rustiest R3s I've seen, check out the photos for rampant rust evidence and giffer-style hammerite application.

It runs and drives ok, but performance is dull compared to others I've driven, maybe becausethe MAF is unplugged. returns roughly 43-45mpg on my commute. The clutch judders a bit if you aren't smooth pulling away, but I got used to it.The only real issue I can see is there is a clonk from the front right occasionally accompanied by some movement under hard braking, so it might need a balljoint or something replacing. I've not investigated properly. Oh,and the rust.

The interior is ok, but needs a good clean, not sure what the previous owners had in it but I've dowsed it with febreeze in a half arsed attempt to make it bareable. Electric windows all round, leccy sunroof (which works) CD player, which is naff, but works.

It has MoT until the 28th of this month so it can be driven home, its still taxed as well.

I know I'm not exactly selling it, but it is free! I was just going to scrap it but it seems a shame as it still sort of works.

Shameful zero-effort pictures:

So yeah, anyone want it? Just needs to be collected from Lincoln by the 28th really.

Likelihood of passing a further MOT?

Mot history sez:

  • Advisory notice item(s)

Offside Front constant velocity joint gaiter deteriorated, but preventing the ingress of dirt (2.5.C.1a)
    wheel arches corroding

This was after it failed on welding and then was patched up. Not a huge list so further MoTs could be a possibility.

I've never had an L series, this is local and the price is acceptable, but I'm currently 2 cars over storage, so I'm going to have to say no .... but I do want it.

What! No warranty?!?!

Irony is if you flogged it on bumtree, they'd be up in arms getting Dom on it after it wanted a track rod end or something.

Shame bub done the swap for his Volvo, this has got his name all over it.

I'm pretty sure these do fine on veg - although they're a different (slightly more modern) injection setup to the earlier L serieseses in the 200 / 400 / 600, they're still all Bosch and non-common rail.
