Mercedes Many Peopling Carrier Coleckshun Right Said Fred

So I posted up a while ago looking for something with the capacity to transport all the Mini Seals, associated detritus, half a farmyard of animals and Mrs Seal all the way from Shetland to Autoshite International HQ in Bulgaria. Step forward Andy (CMS206) who kindly held his bosses family at gunpoint till he agreed a 'price for a shiter' on one of there old Mercedes Minibus. A plan was hatched whereby another Autoshite hero very kindly offered to drive the Minibus from Glasgow to Aberdeen and meet me so I can be down and back in 2 days - stand up and take a bow Adrian (rml2345). Unfortunately nobody told the Minibus of the plan so the day before collection we had our first FTP. Andy suggested collection in a weeks time to ensure everything was running fine - a new catalytic convertor, downpipe, brake overhaul and general checkover ensued. In true Autoshite fashion, one of the sliders snapped on the rear brakes so a new one is on the way and will be being fitted at 7am in the morning - oh well too late now if anything else goes wrong as I'm already on the boat South.

My 'Bed' or Sleeping Pod as Northlink call them. So what does £18 buy you - a reclining seat, blanket, pillow, mood lighting and a USB charging socket.

Hopefully we'll get updates from all the participants as the day goes on and we don't end up as an update on Barry Cades 'Tales of a Breakdown Driver' thread.

An Mercedes FTP ? Sounds like a line from an Ian Rankin novel ??

Didn't Rebus torch his 190e? (On the telly, can't remember if it happened in the books)

That looks a useful old thing, does it have easily removable seats?

Lovely bus. Anyway Rebus did torch his 190, a black one. He then got a Saab. Good choice of reading material.

That sleeping perch looks a bit grim.

Meanwhile, at the other end of the Sprinters... Ehh... Sprint, the alarm is set for early o'clock.

Plan is;

AX to Harthill (yes I'm still using it.)

Coach to Glasgow.

Something called a walk to Central station.

Railytrane to Baurheid.

More of that walking thing.

Tax Sprinter.

Drive to Aberdeen.

I AM EXCITE!

The Sprinter looked ok from 100ft, ex zorst looked totes shanner from 1ft

If you need a hand, I'm in Aberdeen, and have tools and a sinister looking car with space for several bodies in the boot...

Nah, Rebus is a confirmed Saab man

T-MINUS about ten to six.

Just about to leave on the slightly* less than epic jaunt to Barrhead.

By now my mechanic should be at Western Commercial picking up a new caliper at a cost of £eyewatering. He will proceed to the depot to fit the caliper with a hopeful ETD of about 10am.

Good luck everyone.

I can't believe the World Health Organisation wants to eradicate SARS. I for one think the world would be a poorer place without the Scottish Autoshite Relay Squadron.

There is something a bit wrong looking with that rear N/S wheel.

Also, the number plates have changed.  BAIT/SWITCH SPRINTA!!

Is that a stowaway on a kollekshun fred ?

That looks a fabulous bus, well bought.

All built back up; brakes are a bit crap irritatingly but it is useable. Adrian seems happy enough to take it so it'll be leaving as soon as we've taxed it.

Alert - since it isn't French, it needs more than 3 wheel nuts!

Pacing the wet streets of Aberdeen like an expectant father outside the delivery room. Thanks for all your (and your mechanics) hard work early on a Saturday morning Andy - you've gone above and beyond the call of duty!!

Wheeltrims and the wheeltrim fitting kit are in the boot. By law I need to keep the 4-weekly inspection sheets for aboit 18 months but I can email copies up if you want them.

I feel I should drive down to the harbour area and look for a lost-looking Shetlander...

I wouldn't look dodgy at all, nope.

In all seriousness Seal, if you want some fellow shite company while you wait for the bus to turn up...

Hell, I hope you're indoors now at least. It looks fucking atrocious out there.
