Can't get shut of scrap

Cars worth £35 a tonne at moment.

Stainless only worth £500 if its not magnetic and is clean. ( clean as in it doesn't have other metals attached )

Scrap steel is currently 40 quid a ton. It's due to go either way as the Chinese steel industry is about to lay off over 1 million workers!!!

It is a pain for your average guy trying to make a few quid getting rid of their own waste but the upside is the lack of pikeys on the prowl.

Those stainless tables make excellent work benches for workshops, get on and eBay them!

Where are you located?

There's nothing usable, all the good stuff has been reused elsewhere

I had the E46 taken away 2-3 weeks ago. Got an E36 about to head east as well next week.

What are catalysts worth now. I have 4-5 of them. Need to get shat of them. None from a Mark 111 Cortina.

Blimey , not even worth scrapping my mondeo mk3 then! Its a duratec 1800 petrol that failed the mot on emissions (4.5% CO and HC at 800 ppm!) Looks like knackered oil rings , gutted to have to get rid as it needs nothing else, no advisories. Bloody expensive to fix though!!

If they are OEM you'll get £20+ each still, I remember getting £110 for my E36 cat back in 2012!

I realise scrap is low, but surely the cars still have some value from the spare parts side of things, or am I dreaming/ thinking like an autoshiter again ?

Should get £100 for the Mondeo off the banger racers.

As for cats..... PM me.... Depending what you have I'm sure I can raise you on £20 each ☺

I've loads of stainless kitchen equipment in the back carpark as we have just spent half a mil on a new kitchen at work, I cannot get anyone to come and pick it up, its getting on my bloody nerves to be honest, there must be a couple of tons of it at least.

Is any of it able to be repurposed for garage purposes? Prep tables make good tool trolleys!

Stripped shells like the OP's don't though....

Breakers have always worked on paying the weight for a car then making $$$ from everything else, it's hardly new

Chop it into tin can sized pieces and take it down the recyling bins.

Scrap is shite and one of our local scrappies has gone up in flames

Connected?

Legacy breakers nr Wrexham used to have "accidents" very similar when the scrap price dropped.

Always school kids being bored whilst on their holidays apparently. .......

Weighed in the daughters old 106 a couple of weeks ago.

Drove it into the yard and got £25 for it....

I got £22 for a couple of old Land Rover batteries !

I drove an Astra mk4 estate to the scrappy last week, got £53.  Got £150 two years ago when I last scrapped a similar vehicle

Steel worth Jack Shite at the moment.

£53 for an Astra is a result at the moment. I'm sitting on 4 or 5 heavy batteries and an early 90s genuine GM cat that are all sitting in the shed until they become worth more than a punch in the face from the local yard.

Shock as in 'these aren't worth a wank'  ?

I have 10 15 inch alloys to weigh in and other alloy scrap.

May have someone off facebook coming to look at it as he needs some mondy bits, it doesn't help when it's got no wheels or struts and is on it's belly. I actually may have to buy some parts to get it rolling FFS

Some cats are surprisingly still worth a good few quid Reverend, not sure what alloys go for these days though

I've smashed my scrap GM cat on eBay since it's free listings at the mo. Anyone know if it's worth more than a crisp packet?

GM AC MSU89 off a '91 Calibra.

Finally got shut of this Mondeo last night after a guy responded to my post on a local facebook group, I made him well aware that it was on it's belly with no wheels or struts so they would need a beavertail.

The chucklefuckle brothers turned up in a standard transit, the craziest 90 mins of sheer dangerous dumbfuckery ensued and I'm surprised I have gates and a fence left. I decided to leave them to it when one of them was standing on the bed with the winch cable between his legs while it was straining so much you could hear it pinging.

Lesson learnt ,never sell the struts n hubs off a breaker!!
