Never heard of these. A revvy rotary with no bottom end (any I've driven are like that) in something the weight of the titanic should be epic!

Mazda fitted rotary engines to a bus and a big Holden, with no success.

The rotary Ladas seem to go quite well.

The car of the year so far for me ☺

I knew Vaz had made some rotory engined cars but never knew any existed in the wild!

Glad it's now in more sympathetic hands

Hello Eurocarparts? Yeah I need a service kit for a Lada.....yeah Lada.....no the rotary engined one......hello? Hello?....

My mind is seriously split between.

Wow, that's the best car ever on Autoshite.

and

Wow, that makes a Laguna II look like a quality used buy.

I'll just go with both of the above.

Wish I was quicker on this, I could tell it was a Lada engine of some kind by the Niva/Riva carb, the oil cap and the designs and maching of the alloy castings.

Good find BTW

Sam, I have a spare carb for one of these somewhere if you want one. I think I gave £25 for it so you can have it for the same price, plus a fiver for postage.

You learn something new everyday!!

Sam, I'm pretty sure this is what's sometimes dubbed "showing off".

Thanks for showing us how it's done.

Blimey - a new one on me too. Not just shite but surely an engine built entirely from unobtainium ?

Well done Sam, not just entertaining us but living the dream as well. Your postings are very welcome.

I had heard of these, being a bit of a Wankel Nerd, but I thought they were just Communist Party propaganda. Great to know they are real and to see / hear one this side of the Iron Curtain.

Tell us more!

Wow - That's brilliant! I have heard of rotary Samaras but thought they were of a very limited number and that production never took off. What was the purpose behind investing in the development of a powerful rotary lump to chuck in a outdated ex-60s Fiat?

If I had a hat, it would be doffed.

then eaten.

Wow, I can imagine it'll be a right bastard to find parts for, but fuck me, what a bragging right. A Russian take on an Italian design with a notoriously problematic engine configuration, do you pay ladies in high heels to stamp on your todger for fun?

No but he buys v6 Renault Lagunas.

Just fabulous Mr Glover. Just when you think you have seen it all, you get surprised!

You absolute bloody mentalist Sam. The level of SHITEWINNAR points is off the scale

Posted

Wow! I've never heard of these either and I like my WANKELZ

Just adding my name to the list of those who had no idea these were even a thing....another hypothetical hat duly doffed.
