Blimey. Lots of angry comments. Is that what other car forums are like?

Rolling roads are useful but not for the faint hearted.

My GSXR 750 WN was as badly behaved a a toodler fed on froot shoots and findus crispy pancakes before a Rolling road session- I could actually ride it afterwards.

The van could be hilarious on a rolling road. Just to see how many of its 60 pit ponys have escaped in 260k

I did enjoy that, once worked in a garage that had one of those devices, with its strange magnetic property that would draw in the most insufferable wankers from miles around, I'm proud of my self control that I never once went on a murder spree.

Oops, that looks like a lot of boost for a little car.

Dyno operator was being kind to it, you can never replicate real air flow with them either.

I've dyno'd a lot of bikes, it's a funny thing to not try and go for the front brake when you throttle off the first few times you do it

I went to a couple of club shoot-out days at Start Performance in Glenrothes. I saw it as a good day out meeting the others and looking at cars but some took it way, way, WAAAY too seriously. There were actual tears of frustration at one point from one guy who was shown to be making significantly less power than his "tuner" claimed.

Its all bollocks anyway, a dyno operator can get pretty much any results they want with a little creativity....

We had a club rolling road day many years ago- was very interesting! K+N filters lost you about 4 BHP, advancing the timing right to just before the pink on V Power gained you 8 BHP and fancy free flowing exhausts made you deaf, but added back the power lost by the K+N.

My black X1/9 in pic was a bitsa built from 3 spares cars, and a standard 1500 engine with a 1300 carb and set up by ear and nose. It got 78BHP (standard 85) but had a the best torque curve of all the cars there, which is why it was so nice to drive.

The blue one in the bottom pic was the car that was pictured in the rust thread.. I'm surprised it didn't snap in half. Very healthy lump though that was rebuilt and put in another one.

The Autoshite winner would be the lowest bhp

There would be some easy winners if that was the rule - it should be who has managed to lose the most horses in the shortest time span. :-D

Isn't this just willy waving? I mean really who give a shit what power* the engine is giving so long as it's running right and your happy with it

Surely a rolling road thingy will measure the torque and then convert to bhp. otherwise I don't see how it's done.
