Right, some annoying news - the airbag light came on today. Scanner says RH Side Impact Sensor Comm fault and config fault. Autodata says "It's under the driver's seat"... Anyway, sitting on a drive all winter hasn't done it any favours and the sensor is in fact sitting in a puddle under the carpet. I've mopped it and dried off the sensor and the plug but the codes persist - ebay says £20 to replace so not too bad (some seat removal required...)

 

Also, the pad wear warning is on, this isn't faullty, it does need front brake pads soon (est 2-3mm material remaining) and it says there is a bulb failure in the front sidelight - again it is correct, OSF sidelight is not working. I can't see how you are supposed to get at it without dismantling the whole car though.

Small hatch on the front of the inner wheel arch. Open this to get to the bulb. Good luck unless you have the hand size of a 3 year old with extra long fingers and 3 times the acceptable number of joints.

To change sidelights. Turn wheel onto lock and there is an access panel inside wheel arch. Remove and pike your hand through. Also use same access panel for when the bonnet wont open and pull on bonnet wires. This info is top secret.

Changed the sidelight bulb - it's a lot less fiddly than a megane, and you can actually see what you are doing (mostly - you can either see inside or reach inside)

 

Sidelight now works. Car still has the bulb warning thing going on but doesn't say which one any more. YAY!

Well I won the last one. Which ,despite my advice my son didn't want to do up. He bought a Volvo 850 cos it was nicer with leather and shiney bits. Said Volvo left half its engine on the M55 last night and is now a large paperweight or bird table on the garden. If I win this one I am keeping I regardless. Son keeps sending me links to Saab 9.3 2.0 ltrs now. Kids !
