Blimey, why does LYA keep coming up for sale? Does nobody want to keep it?

Expand

Dunno really, it's seemingly always for sale! Cheap now as well. As I've said a lot recently, MK1's are still deeply unpopular after a bit of interest around the pandemic years.

Gah that L reg in white is exactly what dad's M reg mondeo looked like!

He used to drive fast back in those days too, it felt like a rocket to me then as a kid 😂🚀

About a year ago or so, I helped a friend out by driving this to them (all legally), it was actually nice to get reacquainted with one after my brief ownership of a TD in 2019.

I was pleasantly surprised by how it felt at home on the motorway still, as well as on twisty roads. It's quite difficult to get the chassis unhappy, although given it wasn't my car, I wasn't actively trying to find it's breaking point.

I drove a very early B5 A4 the week after and found the Mondeo was the better car for handling and road manners, but the Audi had a slightly better driving position. I felt almost like a 90s car journo.

I'm not on Facebook but would like to give this one a home subject to it being a manual. Also Doncaster is just up the road. Is anyone able to pass on my details if it's still available please?

I can't find the sodding ad now. I didn't bother with the link as it was on a Facebook group.

I can see the chaps name though, will send him a message.

Nice. Alberto Green cars seem to have such a high survival rate! Probably sold to private buyers.

He's been selling it on and off for a while - he asked back in March how much it was worth on the Mondeo groups. I think he's the bloke who won it in a retroshite roffle.

I expect someone’s actually turned up with money in their hand and taken it away on a hi-ab.

There is a mk1 estate for £600 down in Stoke, 72k which may be worth a gander at the weekend 😀

It being photographed in a scrapyard is a worrying sign!

There are some really nice cars in this thread. Why do these tidy Mondeos still sell for a fraction of the price of rusty, broken down Sierras?

Having some difficulty even finding this on ebay. The K reg estate had roof bars but this one and the N reg one I'm looking at both don't. Were they just on a ghia estate and an option on lesser spec cars?

Also seen another K reg on the bay, June 93 registered. Looks a very nice place to be. No MOT currently but expired last year. Not a single advisory in the last few years tho so looks to have been well cared for

Many people perhaps still think of Mondeo as being  recent whereas Sierra has now assumed "classic" status..
