Have you got this? My BiL bought it when it was a few months old, only kept it a year.  He may have some photos.  1.6 pez.Screenshot_20230912_202356_com.android.chrome.thumb.jpg.99b986e872873ea9678ac853d530c7b7.jpg

And registered as a Sierra, presumably because there was no Mondeo option on the DVLA database at the time. Presumably cubed, as is usually the case for prototypes.

Yes they’re nearly always crushed as they won’t be finished properly so would ‘let the brand down’ a bit plus I’m fairly sure there’s a taxation reason that they crush them. Not sure on the ins and outs of it but I did read that.

That one must have been registered before the Mondeo name had even been made public as the headline calls it the "New Sierra". Someone was asking on one of the facebook groups if any J-reg Mondeos ever existed and all the answers said no, but here's the proof even if it was officially a Sierra.

I note it was registered as 1800cc rather than 1796cc also, deep geek.

I've had replacement window side trims for some time (aftermarket), the originals are slightly bent...mainly thanks to autoglass. And faded.

image.thumb.jpeg.e1ce86cc58f5bc9a003badcf670876d2.jpeg

so remove the old one, reveals dirt and 30 year old rusty clips

image.thumb.jpeg.2a725c2e5f67580a0a21c0d4c06e6406.jpeg

I'm doing this proper* so also  got new clips from Ford, which are same as MK2.

image.thumb.jpeg.e1d5dff628ccd7d0c05c554ad8f1b1fb.jpeg

the clips push over these 'knobs' which are part of the body

image.thumb.jpeg.f5bbebb8d7235cea7422b60d22b0e43a.jpeg

the new ones are slightly bigger, and they y tho'd me.

image.thumb.jpeg.7832126380251d9b641e7b6bcffe7318.jpeg

With quite some faffing, 6 new ones are on

image.thumb.jpeg.edfe91b5127f3abe078561680602bb67.jpeg

They are tight. I spray some Bilt Hamber in the gap, and push the new trim on

The other side another day....

Imagine my surprise when I'm procrastinating watching Netflix and a K-reg turns up! Excuse awful photo taken of the telly.

Looks like K568NMG (known about from your list a few pages back) is being used in dramatic reconstructions in the recently released Netflix documentary, "Who Killed Jill Dando?"

Interesting! How did the car relate to the story?

Didn't seem to relate really - they used it for the investigating detectives and at one point as the car she got out of before walking to her door (which I'm pretty sure from the CCTV clips they showed should have been an E36 of some description).

I'm not sure why they used it to be honest - no other attempt was made to use era appropriate vehicles at any other point during the series (except for the infamous blue Range Rover)

Thanks to @RichardK, who kindly posted it to me, I now have the 'classical collection' to go with 'love songs' that I already have!

So the other side today

DSCF0637.thumb.JPG.b94b4e82efc0e253a0d04097adfc3546.JPG

I'd only bought 10 clips, so could only replace 4 on this side

image.thumb.jpeg.092e034611d97ebe51da864bf9deeb2b.jpeg

This mix of clips, meant this side didn't fit quite so well....

image.thumb.jpeg.86cc3376616d8f441ae3f08048c0c66f.jpeg

which meant I put it on 1/2 cm too low. I thought best to leave be rather than bend it straight away by trying again, maybe I can pop a dab of silicone in the gap?

image.thumb.jpeg.5dd3854e680a31f6dac1d7009504aa9f.jpeg

Anyway, an 8/10 job overall

I'm just catching up with this thread. Nice pictures. I don't think I've ever seen a black-top bumper with headlight washers, on a GLX without front foglights. But how did these early cars get those trims? I think I've only seen these trims fitted to the end-of-line mk1 LX from 1996. Weren't they supposed to have those amazing 'swirly'-early GLX trims instead? Other than the 1996 LX, what else came with those trims illustrated here?

It would still look a lot better inside the headlamp when refitted. Can you still get these new? Good effort on the improvement though.

not available new anymore, some prefer a conversion to the late MK1 system that didn't have reflectors. I have one NOS set left if I need them.

Unfortunately, I don't know much about the equipment levels on these here and have searched a bit and found no information. There is an original 1993 brochure for sale here now but I'm not interested enough to spend £15 plus shipping on it.

And I can add some info about these 2 in the pictures.

DH19464  was a 1,8 glx VIN WF0NXXGBBNPP67441  scrapped in 2008

PX30037 was a 2 liter engined glx  VIN  WF0FXXGBBFPA72512  scrapped in 2011 some additional info on this one. The PX registration plates belonged to the town of Mandal in Norway and the photo was taken outside the local Ford dealer when the car was delivered. My family and I came from this area so I sent this photo to my dad and he recognized him on the right as a salesman at that dealership and my grandfather probably bought a few cars from him.

And if you didn't see it in the Norwegian sales thread I have here, there is an almost identical to these Norwegian sold 1993 clx for sale here now. And would clx be over glx?

Period plates front and rear plus dealer sticker all from the same Suffolk dealer, but I doubt they would have sold it brand new on that 'AR' registration. Were Ford pre-registering them back then?

Apparently it's had a long-term owner. More recently the brother of the chap I saw had it on a farm, then needed space and it got moved to where it sits now. It will be for sale, at something like £2,000 with a fresh MoT. Seems like a good buy to me for that money.

It's very local to me on the Norfolk/Suffolk border, I can pass on details if required.

Thanks very much, very cool to get some photos, and it does look straight. Great to see another HAR survivor  -  which were either press or dealer demo cars.
