Another K reg discovered today via Facebook, in alberto green too, same as my GLX.

Had to share this picture, the current owner got this from the original giffer owner. Apparently, in the old days Brittany ferries used to take a pic as you embarked...

Perfect.

I like to think that the lovely silver Audi 200 was owned by a proto-Shiter :)

An L-reg Java Blue GLX I spotted in Basildon yesterday evening:

Apart from the mismatched wheel covers (2 originals, 1 Sierra GL, 1 Halfords special), it was pretty tidy and original and looked to be rust-free. Could be living on borrowed time, though, as according to the DVLA it has very little tax and MOT remaining.

They did! I had forgotten that, they used to pin the photos up on a board when you came on to th main deck of the ferry.  Took a B plate sierra Plymouth-Roscoff in about 1996, unfortunately for shite posterity I didn't buy it as I was utterly skint and the pound was getting about 7.5 francs, expensive times...

If I ever see it again, I may well do that. I don't think it's likely that I'll encounter the car again, though, as I'm hardly ever in Basildon.

If it has a Pumice colour interior, may be worth saving for that alone, can't tell from the pics, and etis isn't working for me.

Sadly it's Papillon according to ETIS.

Thanks Jo.

Combination of low miles, throwing money at it, and taking care of the things you can.

Of course, as you know yourself, this just means I can start work on the next round of jobs!

Congratulations, I think PeteC the Cortina botherer needs to join here with his Ace Of Base Tincorner estate, which I think has a 1300 Kent! BASE, how slow can you go? LOL

I love these old Mondeos, know everybody says it but I can't believe it's been ten years since they were omnipresent on our streets. So few and far now. That interior is something else - massive pat on the back for doing the Shiters' job, and driving what no one else will!

Following the PAS fluid change on the Mazda, I thought I'd do the same on the Base. This needed it more, and steering does seem a bit smoother. However, my siphoning technique (thanks Chrisfix) wasn't quite as effective at getting the old stuff out on this car.

One brochure missing from my collection, was the fleet sales effort.  One arrived today.  I have taken a couple of of choice cuts for your entertainment from the glory days of motorway repping.

Also it says 20 Mondy's were released to fleet drivers and company car drivers in December 1992 - what happened to them - oh to find one ;-)

It was just the tool for going up and down the country flogging endowment mortgages.

"If I stitch another 12 people up this month with a crippling 12% mortgage, I COULD get that Mondeo GLX in a few months time"

Everything said is correct. My Dad went from an 88 Sierra 1.8lx to a 94 Mondeo 1.8lx and they were just night and day.

Ps. Every morning I drive past an N reg white Hatch. For the first time in 3 years I saw it on the move today and they really do look like an old car now. Whilst curvy, it’s still dated. Also, for the first time ever, I could see the similarities between the mondeo and the Scorpio.

I want one more than ever.
