egg Posted February 2, 2018 Author Posted February 2, 2018 Another K reg discovered today via Facebook, in alberto green too, same as my GLX. Had to share this picture, the current owner got this from the original giffer owner. Apparently, in the old days Brittany ferries used to take a pic as you embarked... Perfect. Hendry, Brodders, Shep Shepherd and 9 others 12
Ghosty Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Lovely selection of shite in the background too - Audi 80, Rover 400, XM, Mk3 Granada, Audi 100/A6, and what looks like a mk2 Transit... egg and HMC 2
Ben_O Posted February 2, 2018 Posted February 2, 2018 Mother in law has just bought an N reg GLX for £350 with 9 months MOT. Elderly previous owners and Minty fresh. Blue with blue interior. egg 1
Parky Posted February 3, 2018 Posted February 3, 2018 Here's one on the Bay - pretty cheap at £300 with no bids. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ford-mondeo-mk1-hatchback-1996-automatic/323036669455?hash=item4b367c660f:g:nr8AAOSwt4xacyw9 Have to admit I would be tempted, a lot of car for the money Shep Shepherd and egg 2

Shep Shepherd Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 An L-reg Java Blue GLX I spotted in Basildon yesterday evening: Apart from the mismatched wheel covers (2 originals, 1 Sierra GL, 1 Halfords special), it was pretty tidy and original and looked to be rust-free. Could be living on borrowed time, though, as according to the DVLA it has very little tax and MOT remaining. Parky, egg and They_all_do_that_sir 3

FB_IMG_1517561072639~2.jpg They did! I had forgotten that, they used to pin the photos up on a board when you came on to th main deck of the ferry. Took a B plate sierra Plymouth-Roscoff in about 1996, unfortunately for shite posterity I didn't buy it as I was utterly skint and the pound was getting about 7.5 francs, expensive times... egg 1
sierraman Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Stick a note on the screen, if you can offer a few quid more than the scrapyard could be yours. Shep Shepherd 1
Shep Shepherd Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 If I ever see it again, I may well do that. I don't think it's likely that I'll encounter the car again, though, as I'm hardly ever in Basildon.
sierraman Posted February 6, 2018 Posted February 6, 2018 Might pass the next test with a brake pipe or two and a bit of welding. Shep Shepherd 1
egg Posted February 6, 2018 Author Posted February 6, 2018 If it has a Pumice colour interior, may be worth saving for that alone, can't tell from the pics, and etis isn't working for me.

egg Posted May 29, 2018 Author Posted May 29, 2018 Thanks Jo. Combination of low miles, throwing money at it, and taking care of the things you can. Of course, as you know yourself, this just means I can start work on the next round of jobs! Joloke 1
Felly Magic Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 Congratulations, I think PeteC the Cortina botherer needs to join here with his Ace Of Base Tincorner estate, which I think has a 1300 Kent! BASE, how slow can you go? LOL egg 1
Shonky Posted May 29, 2018 Posted May 29, 2018 I love these old Mondeos, know everybody says it but I can't believe it's been ten years since they were omnipresent on our streets. So few and far now. That interior is something else - massive pat on the back for doing the Shiters' job, and driving what no one else will! egg, Shep Shepherd and cpjitservices 3
egg Posted June 11, 2018 Author Posted June 11, 2018 Following the PAS fluid change on the Mazda, I thought I'd do the same on the Base. This needed it more, and steering does seem a bit smoother. However, my siphoning technique (thanks Chrisfix) wasn't quite as effective at getting the old stuff out on this car. danthecapriman and RobT 2

sierraman Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 It was just the tool for going up and down the country flogging endowment mortgages. "If I stitch another 12 people up this month with a crippling 12% mortgage, I COULD get that Mondeo GLX in a few months time" egg and KWhite 2
BorniteIdentity Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 Everything said is correct. My Dad went from an 88 Sierra 1.8lx to a 94 Mondeo 1.8lx and they were just night and day. Ps. Every morning I drive past an N reg white Hatch. For the first time in 3 years I saw it on the move today and they really do look like an old car now. Whilst curvy, it’s still dated. Also, for the first time ever, I could see the similarities between the mondeo and the Scorpio. I want one more than ever. egg 1
artdjones Posted June 14, 2018 Posted June 14, 2018 Yes,but I would have seen a Mondeo as a comedown from a Peugeot 605. Lacquer Peel 1
