Valeting / Detailing / two bucket wronguns

What is this pre paid card, please?

i signed up to their phone and broadband in my new house and at the time, it was an incentive.

If you do ever get one from them, the online redemption procedure takes you around in circles, never actually letting you claim it. Lord knows if that is down to incompetence or by design. I rang them and they were mega apologetic and sent it out to me that day.

Did you just get a BT Mobile or TV package?

I got my phones moved to BT and sacked Sky off for BT TV as well and ended up with £200 worth of Amazon vouchers in different tranches. Paid for Sons watch at Christmas anyway!

https://www.productsandservices.bt.com/broadband/deals/

Some of their offers on Broadband at the moment. I should say that BT Mobile is cheap, but utter shit. Once the contract is finished I am back to Tesco

Just phone and broadband geez.

I NEVER polish cars, however given the Focus is in such lovely condition I thought I'd give it a coat of polish. Problem is Silver never looks amazing when polished, not like a nice dark metallic red. We had a Fiesta years ago, rotten as fuck underneath but when you polished it it came up really nice. Pepper Red I think it was.

Just thought I'd give shiters with black cars a heads up on the turtle wax black box set if you didn't already know about it, my car is single stage 2k gloss so 2 stage base and laquer may get different results

Mrs fp got me this as an early birthday pressie because I love cleaning my saph, well its great you get a black pre wax cleanser, a black carnuba wax 2x detailing spray and 2 applicator pads, I thought it was witchcraft using detailing spray to remove polish when buffing away with a microfibre, it was very easy to use obviously leaving no dust, the polishes smell nice, the only downfall for someone would be the coloured polish could stain your hands, I wore gloves so no drama, it left the paint feeling silky smooth to the touch and has no cutting properties

Here's the finish

The plastic on the dash on my 307 looks really dry almost chalky, I've tried putting wiping some silicon over it to bring it back to life but the elephant's arse grain pattern means I just end of making the knobbly bits shiny. Is there some sort of trade tip I can use to get it looking better?

Thanks for the info, I have another interior cleaning question, the previous owner was a smoker and the headlining is filthy, what's the best way to clean it? I tried cleaning another car's head lining years ago with a sponge and a bucket of soapy water but I kept chasing water marks everywhere.

You want to try to not get it to wet as you get the problems you had. Autosmart Brisk in a can would be good. Foam cleaner that cleaned years of filth of the Rialto head lining no bother. Spray in on, wipe in with a clean cloth, then wipe dirt off with another clean cloth,

My autoglym extra gloss protection wax has finally run out.

Recommend me something in that sort of price range that's easy to use and makes the car look all shiny and lovely after a wash.....

While we are at it my da gave me a foam attachment for my karchar, what smelly goodness should I be filling that with?

Cheers y'all

I'm a 2 bucket wrong un.

Spent about 3 hours today wiping the car over after a wash yesterday. Then polished a few marks and gave it a coat of Auto finesse tripple. Dressed the tyres and black trim.

Then obviously it rained.

^^

As for a new sealant, have you tried Poorboy's EXP?

No, will it make my car shiny?

I had to wash the car for MOT this morning, and the only wax I had was some nasty turtle wax from god knows when. It was a nightmare to buff off, wish I hadn't bothered.

I've just bought some Hydrosilex £33 for a bottle, too hot to do the car so I tried it on the fridge, mrs wack was so impressed with how shiny it is when I got back today she's used 1/3 of a bottle on the kitchen cupboards, sink, windows, tiles and even the bloody kettle

This weekend I did some proper car cleaning for the first time in ages.

Mrs's 206 got a pressure wash, wheel cleaner, shampoo, rinse, polish, glass polish, bumper gel, hoover, seats cleaned, carpet scrubbed, dash wipes and then another wash then paint chips touched in.

Must have worked as it passed its MOT on Monday!

My stock of potions is looking pretty poor now. Shampoo - run out. Polish - run out. Glass polish - solid in the bottle. Bumper gel took 5 minutes of shaking to turn back into liquid. Wheel cleaner - run out. Tyre shine - sprayer broke.

I went to buy some more stock. Got a meguires wash, AG glass polish and resin polish.

Was a bit uninspired by the range available (where I used to work).

I've got one of those snow foam things, what is the 2bucket collectives chosen snow stuff?

I'm sure the Shite answer is Tesco value washing up liquid.

I use the cheapish green Demon Foam stuff.

It is pretty decent. This time of year the car is cleaned and waxed and I find a soak in that foam, pressure washer rinse and then towel dry gets it looking great in about 20 minutes. No need for a bucket (or two) wash.

I'm actually using snow foam from "Trotter's traders" a local fancy goods emporium.

99p actually works alright.

I won't mention this on Detailing world as I'll get burnt at the stake for heresy.

"Ooh you don't want to use that, it'll make your car melt"

"Ooh don't use that, it's not expensive enough"

Don't get me wrong, I've been a member on there about 12 years but some people need to chill their tits.

I have a proper snow foam Lance for my karcher.

I don't normally say this for fear of physical reprisal.

The day I picked up my Volvo some numpty had liberally sprayed the dash in some gopping silicone shit.

'Valeted for you m8'

It took two of us the better part of an hour to clean most of it off with hot soapy water and about 10 microfibre clothes.

Good.

What I didn't realise at the time was that there was quite a bit of over-spray of this shit onto the windscreen and windows and over the last few months this has gradually become more and more visible as white spots on the glass.

It's been an absolute bitch to clean off. Nothing seemed to have any effect at all. I even took it to a friend who is heavily into detailing his monstrous scoobydoo. He threw endless chemicals at it but.... Nothing....

I was bemoaning my fate to my wife this morning having just had the car washed and she said 'use some wire wool'

Full of worry about scratching my glass I gingerly dolloped some windowlene onto a pan scourer and oh so gently rubbed away at the stains.

They. Came. Straight. Off.

Moral of the story? There *are* times when my non-driving wife knows more about cars than me.

Was visiting my mate in Coventry today, we went to a car place called Elliotts as they were having a closing down sale. I bought a good few bits and pieces from Poorboys, Supernatural and Chemical guys. Spent about 40 odd quid, all the stuff was half price.
