I have a broken MG ZT-T in my garage you can start with if you like - just needs the spare engine putting in. FWIW I thought I wasn't scared of engine swaps until I started this one - the V6 is all kinds of a tight fit in there. 1.8s from now on for me. Insideimsmiling 1
MarvinsMom Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 I have a broken MG ZT-T in my garage you can start with if you like - just needs the spare engine putting in. FWIW I thought I wasn't scared of engine swaps until I started this one - the V6 is all kinds of a tight fit in there. 1.8s from now on for me. so are you any good with melted turbo's and/or blown head gaskets?
Urko Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 so are you any good with melted turbo's and/or blown head gaskets?Well considering this "bulletproof" KV6 with low miles and fsh seems to have lunched one of its 2 Head gaskets, it looks like par for the course, and I'd rather be doing the 4-pot series with more access and only one (much easier) timing belt. Also turbo isn't compulsory on the 1.8 if you don't mind going a bit slower.
MarvinsMom Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 are you sure that it is OMGHGF as there is a rubber seal between the fannymold and the block that can fail, and cause oil and water to mix? there is no such thing as a bullet proof engine, just ask some poor sap that has had one of the 2 timing chains come off of their 3 litre BMW diesel engine, that is supposed to be bullet proof.....
Sigmund Fraud Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 there is no such thing as a bullet proof engine You have clearly never owned a Volvo redblock ! pandamonium 1
Captain Slow Posted January 2, 2016 Author Posted January 2, 2016 Right, everyone is in - so the roffle is tonight. In twelve hours this could be yours! Good luck everyone! NorfolkNWeigh, eddyramrod, Cavcraft and 5 others 8
NorfolkNWeigh Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Everyone told me my 530d engine was bulletproof, pity I needed it to perform as an engine rather than ballistic protection. Sigmund Fraud, EssDeeWon, rantingYoof and 1 other 4

MarvinsMom Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Hmmm rover 75 or above £46m .... Which would you prefer?easy, the Rover..... plus the odds of winning are MUCH greater (of winning the Rover) purplebargeken and Sigmund Fraud 2
Urko Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 To whoever does win this, I have a cheeky request. Lend me the car for a few weeks and hopefully I could make it worth your while somehow.Granted (in the unlikely event)
Urko Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 are you sure that it is OMGHGF as there is a rubber seal between the fannymold and the block that can fail, and cause oil and water to mix? Much appreciated - I think it's the 1.8 that does that, but I replaced both inlet manifold scousegits* a while ago - needless to say it didn't help. *ancient comedy ref - Alf Garnet r.i.p. eddyramrod 1
eddyramrod Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 inlet manifold scousegitsThat's definitely going to pass into the lexicon! Hauserplenty: one for you here my friend! Urko 1
EssDeeWon Posted January 2, 2016 Posted January 2, 2016 Hmmm rover 75 or above £46m .... Which would you prefer? Someone will win the 75, but no one ever wins the lotto anymore since the odds went from totally ridiculous to almost fckin impossible. Cavcraft, carlo and MarvinsMom 3
