Bloody hell Foad, you've nearly bought more cars this year than I have in my life!

I have only bought one car this year and you all know ALL about that bugger. I still have the Honda of much cheapness to run (not put fuel in it since the summer while the big green bogey has had a 100 quids worth in the last two weeks... and I haven't been anywhere!). I would have been posting about my new MX5 auto if the miserable old bugger hadn't pulled the auction with 12 hours to go, he said he might if it wasn't making the money he wanted.

Must start the Honda at some point, been unused for three weeks out in the rain, I feel guilty!

I think I had a mid life crisis. After eight and a half years together I sold the old model and replaced with new.

I'm massively missing this. It was really what I wanted but I was getting to the point where I thought I needed a change so it went into Triggers loving embrace.

My daily became a Mazda 5 and into the fleet came this

20725999613_6e8c746e49_z.jpg

Which in fairness is actually pretty good. Has the aura of something older than it is to drive (thats a good thing) but goes pretty well and is perfect for Mrs_Lobz so far.

2016 should bring changes though. Mazda's days are numbered once I can save some money.... R4 F6 stays forever, might get a bit of bodywork but needs relatively little otherwise. Fancy some more old French rubbish but the pull of an Octavia VRs as a Mazda replacement is very strong.

That engine bay shot gives me The Fear. You are going to have to hire a gynocologist to do anything more complex than changing the battery.

Apparently you change the spark plugs on the back three cylinders through the ashtray.

I now have something to contribute to the Facebook page; in response to the regular 'Have I won?'. No, you haven't. FOAD has. Now FOAD.

I started the year with a lovely, fast, practical, comfortable Volvo, and a small Citroen, and ended it with a smelly Renault, and a small Citroen. Not a bad outcome.

R9UKE has won Autoshite. Being brave enough to get a V6 Espace is one thing, getting shut of a fat arsed Megane at the same time is just inspired.

A pretty poor show from me this year. I sacked off my trade insurance to stop me buying random old shite and it worked.

I bought this v8 P6. I pissed around with a bit, drove it to Glasgow and it shat itself on the m8 and it's now sulking in my lockup with no MOT.

I got my Cortina through an mot then found a shite load of hidden rust. Still battling this one, to be sold one re-assembled!

I also bought MrC this. Seems to be okay so far other than pinging the eml on the other day.

Bloody hell, I feel like loser of the week right now.

WTF FOAD? Was it a concerted effort to corner the market?

My contribution? Nothing, nada, not a goddamn thing. In 33 years of car buying I've never had a quieter time, no buys, no sells, no projects as such. Not even any major jobs needed on the current fleet, just regular maint. Reason? Simply fancied a year off after a fairly frantic preceding three.

Think next year will be different.......

I've not bought anything this year, despite selling one of my 2cvs. I've lived my year in shite vicariously, so thank you to those that have taken the time to share. I promise to try harder next year!

Owned this until early 2015, much derided Nissan Vanette, it was actually good to drive and useful. Would buy again.

xUnbLzB.jpg

Part-exed the Vanette for this V70 TDI, not as good as it seemed, previous owner was keen to test the stereo out on the test drive to hide noisy tappets and wheel bearing, only saw it in the dark. It lunched a lot of things in quick succession (partly my fault) and got fragged.

ie2MYku.jpg

While I was messing about with the V70's cambelt timing, I bought this Xsara 1.9D (XUD) with a Bosch pump. Bought it in a rush, missed the rotten sills and the collapsed wheel bearing. With a new hub it was a decent drive, for such a shit car it rode and handled a lot better than the Volvo.

jUQJhO3.jpg

CADDYSHACK. Expensive by my standards, but still 3 figures. It has a few issues but it's been totally reliable, averages 50MPG on a veg blend and it's nippy for a van. Tempted to fit big injectors and re-map it for more power.

Sold the OMGHFHNOHGFMGF to FordDeliveryBoy back in the spring....

Only one purchase this year, this Volvo 740 2.0 auto off of the blue forum. Lasted 3 weeks before the box shat itself, after an age trying to find a reasonably priced replacement, I got one which lasted 4 weeks! So it's lying at my mates garage while I try not to think about it. Shame as its otherwise solid. e75243a7f231f509ca8bbfb5cdcad476.jpg

My solitary car purchase of 2015 has been this:

20151014_165703%20Copy.jpg

Which although objectively the best car I've ever purchased is modern and not shite. Disappointing.

I think I also sold this very early on in 2015 in order to move house:

20140206_155119_1024x576.jpg

Both the Dolomites have stayed on the fleet but while both were running road legal cars at the start of 2015 they are now both out of MOT and I'm flat broke... Overall 2015 hasn't been a grand year for shite and 2016 isn't off to a great start either...

I sold this

Then sold this ....

post-5175-0-60364800-1451998961_thumb.jpg

and replaced it with this (not shite, sorry)

post-5175-0-94679500-1451999049_thumb.jpg

I then damaged this .....(OMGHGF)

post-5175-0-22014100-1451999099_thumb.jpg

So I bought this .....

Then just in case I break it, I bought this as well

I first spotted this Grand Espace about 5/6 years ago. And anyone who knows my particular perversions will know the mess left when I first did see it....

attachicon.gifimage.jpg

An Espace that means business. The first and only of its kind that I've ever come across in NI. Add to that the perfect spec otherwise, black heated leather, panoramic roof and a colour that blends suitably in to the background. It's pretty much exactly how I'd have ordered one from the factory.

This one came up locally...

No way could I justify to the future wife, such a wholly unsuitable purchase for myself! I already have a french 5 seater mini-mpv on the drive and we don't have any kids...

Looks proper fun as a sleeper though. Maybe if it was a couple hundred quid I could get away with it.

The Renault branded tv remote made me chuckle.

53 plate - that's a very early one, and cheap too. The Espace seems to be the best one out of all post-millennia Renaults (bar the Avantime) to hold its value. The wife would love it, she can change radio stations with the Renault remote while you embarrass Audi drivers with your 245bhp!

I've actually been offered ANOTHER in p/ex for my Avantime. We'll see what happens, maybe make one really good one out of two.
