I haven't told the other half yet. However she's going on her Hen thinggy tomorrow. Making it a perfect day for a collection as I rather not have her coming with me if it shits itself on the way back.

Its been sitting on their forecourt for like 6 months and only basic oil change history. My biggest concern is that the belts are alright as there is no history of them being changed. Oh and that the auto box plays happy.

Possibly in for a collection tomorrow. :D

... I hope I don't win yours as well. LOL

Spoke to the guy there. He seemed sound - did remark though that it went pretty cheap. I countered and suggested that electronic problems might have put people off.

He hasn't done an error code scan on that ESP fault, but reckons (like I do) its probably the ABS pump at fault. Internet suggests that these can be swapped around no-problem with second hand units.

So!!!!

Collection!

As its only 10 years old, I'd guess normally its not worth doing a collection thread. But being this is a french v6 barge with pre-existing electrical faults ... reckon its worth one?!

Will I make it back driving it or will I make it back with it on a truck...?

You should do a thread on it, if only incase a shiter is nearby where you break down to offer assistance/cup of tea/laugh at you.

yes do a thread! Excellent goonering. Very tempted by the current raffle, but I really would have a problem if I won it :/

Posted

Definitely do a thread and if you want to do any of the spannering on it yourself you're more than welcome to borrow my unit / tools providing I have the capacity

I'm not very far away from that destination point should you need sympathy/assistance/someone to point and laugh

Good luck with the collection. You'll pass within mile or so from V6 mansions on your journey. Hope the car makes it.

This has been on for aggggges. Price has been slowly dropping from £500. They don't seem to have caught on to the fact that on Gumtree, you need to delete and relist to get to the top so people see it again.

Currently at £300, but I reckon you could make a proper cheeky offer like £150-£200 or so.

Cat D most likely because those scratches that you can see.

Auto Gearshifting issue most likely fixed with a fluid flush (as long as the fluid isn't grey).

ESP fault most likely require a second-hand ABS pump (like mine does), or ignore as iirc its not a MOT failure. ABS still works, just no traction control (ESP).

On the plus side its a 2.0T (170bhp), few mod-cons such as climate control, part leather, hands-free locking, black and only 55k!!!!

At 55k, as long as the fluid hasn't gone to a grey paste, it should be alright imo. Sealed for life nonsense that Volvo+Renault say. However Saab and (the manufacturer) Aisin Warner have service intervals. IIRC Aisin Warner is 50k, Saab say 110000km (68k miles)/5 years.

So it might not just be past saving.

I hope its not, because my box has done 92.5k miles and 10 years without a change!

I don't need another mid 00s Renault in my life right now but I want it so bad (will see if I win Testes' roffle first!)

Is it bad that despite having 1 more Renault than I strictly need I've set a saved search up for knackered Megane II convertibles?

Now a 'spares or repairs' Migraine convertible would require large testes. All the reliability* of the standard model with the thrill of wondering whether the tin top trick would pack up mid fold.

Sir, I see your testes and I raise you massive stupidity :D
