If I'd bought a Capri you might think it was stiletto-heel damage... ;)  As it isn't a Capri.... no idea!

Capri's don't do anything for you in that respect, I can assure you. At least it never seems to work out that well for me!

Besides maybe Sid and Dorris got a little rambunctious after bingo one evening! Yuk!

Actually Dan, I agree.  I was still single when I had my first Capri, and it was no asset at all.

Hyacinth came home today with a new cambelt and new anti-freeze.  Martin had a little look underneath and said she will want both sills doing rather than just one.  Oh well, 26 years old, you have to expect these things.  He said she's been patched before but not terribly well.  I could have told him that, lol, as I'd looked up the MoT history and seen failures for welding in the past.

Never mind, she's lovely to drive.  Oh and bonus: he found a NOS wheeltrim among his bits and bobs and donated it.  It's a VDP so won't match, but should I accidentally lose one, at least I won't have a bare wheel on show.

Re question posed by Mr B.

"Would anyone on here 'do' Hyacinth bouquet? I've briefly thought about it but then decided no."

No. Definitely probably not.. Unless she dressed up as her sister Rose (the one without a Mercedes and no room for a pony)

I'm scouring the internet for a pair of sills and rear arches for this car, without success.  Anyone know of any NOS hiding anywhere?

Also, I'm looking at this on ebay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252246017349?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

which would be a good idea, as there is rot in the wing I have.  Curiously the OSF wing seems fine.  This one is in Rotherham, so would anyone be able to collect it for me and Shitely it over in my direction?  'Twould be much appreciated.

Auto Panels in Castleford?

What area you in eddy?

Bottom left corner of the Lake District.

I looked at AutoPanels, they list most of the parts I want, which is great.  However I tried to ring them and nobody answered.  I've emailed, let's see if that does any better.  Thanks for the nod there BTB :)

But both those are listed as "Udgår Expires", which I think is Danish for "no can do", but there might be NOS swimming round the system.

The man who bought my old 213 claimed to have bought (before collecting the actual car !) the last two SD3 sill panels IN THE WORLD... And that happened in late 2012 !

Translated as: as near to Ireland as you can get without crossing water.

Sills and arches ordered, through a local factor! :)  They should be delivered to Martin at the garage by about Tuesday.  £90 all in, which I thought was fine.

I used to get quite a bit of attention when mine was on road, saying that I used to pull in a hanging, rotten as feck y reg sierra 2.0 auto that I paid £50 for

Oh well it must be me then, I must be ugly as fook! I'd never blame the Capri anyway.

I didn't bid, and now the wing has been relisted.  So my question stands: is there anyone who could collect it upon sale and either bring it over or hold it until I/someone else can get it?

It's a bit too far away from me unfortunately, why not start a thread for the request for local shiters?

PM traffic ongoing, it's looking like we might have something in hand.  All I have to do now is bid and win!

Oh dear, has it been that long?  So sorry...

Well I won the wing, and Marvin's Mom collected and stored it for me, then handed it over at Brough.  I've also scored a NOS exhaust, middle and rear, and since then the downpipe too, which is where the worst of the blow is.  Today a parcel of jacking point panels arrived so all 4 can now be renewed when Martin does the sills; and I picked up a couple of 165/80 tyres, which are the correct size.  I now have 4, although when I get them all on the car I'll still have an undersize spare.  Until I find another 165.

Hyacinth has also now been introduced (in last week's issue) to the Classic Car Buyer "staff fleet."  There will be detailed updates in the mag as-and-when.

Looking forward to a pictorial report of Hyacinth's undercarriage in the near future.

The pair of Fiesta wheels from the other day have now been stripped of their 165/80 tyres, replaced with 165/70, and Hyacinth is now wearing the right size across the front.  For a small difference in profile, it's amazing how much better she feels!  If anyone wants a pair of 13" Ford wheels with actually quite decent tyres on, come and get them, FOC.
