106 and Saxo mega 24 hour derv collecshun fred!

For those who have not been following my recent exploits, here is the story.

1. Crashed my beloved 205 TD into tree, nearly taking my head off.

2. Bought a shabby 205 TD 5 door with massive boost from Arthur Foxhake.

3. The turbo on the new 205 blew on way home.

4. No car.

After having 9 205 TDs, there are none left in the UK for me. So I need some reliable fun transport that will run on veg, and be 20 years old- 106s or BX TDs were my favorites, though a BX i was bidding on went for masssive dollar.

106s with veg friendly Bosch pumps are rare, most are Lucas - I have promised to collect a tidy red Lucas pumped 106D from Stoke tonight, rather than waiting for the auction to end and probably paying more.

Bubs free Saxo 1.5D with a Bosch pump is also rare, but for another reason -it is free; but has to be gone by tomorrow from near Nottingham.

Setting off now, pics to follow!

I'm disappointed. Though one is broken, neither car is actually missing its gearbox.

Ace - I like the styling on those early 106s. That one looks splendid.

106's and Saxo's are crap.

Tooling up my brother Dan's 106 D, naughty 205 in the background.

Veg for Moog's new Xantia, the ex-Chompysnake one. Flattened 205 in background.

I'm a little apprehensive as 106s will have as little anti-tree armour as 205s!

Call from a drowning Chompysnake, wants help with a soaked MG V6, the ex-Moog one.

It cut out in puddle whilst coming up to Chez-Cabbage to return my A Frame. Same A Frame as I will need tomorrow to tow the Saxo back, so I have to help him out!

Sprayed all the accessible electrics with WD40, but made no difference unfortunately.

Got our A Frame and left Chompy ankle deep in a puddle on the phone to the AA.

Sorry we couldn't help more Graham!

Just got onto M65, heading south.

:D

The fittest teacher of EVAH was Miss Goodwin, my A-level Biology tutor. She was the full package, and had a red three door 106 Graduate.

Minor fail to proceed on M6 north, boot flew open. Bizarre, as exactly the same thing happened to my brothers car on the way down! post-5452-0-12974800-1449180313_thumb.jpg

Yeah, tailgate unlatching itself.

Just got home.

When I picked the car up it had been stood more or less idle for the last 18 months and barely managed 70mph when I first got it onto the motorway. I stuck some injector cleaner in and pushed it as hard as I could and it gradually got better and better as we got closer to home, probably needed a good italian tune to clean out the injectors and fuel system.

It drives brilliantly, handles as good as any car I have driven (bar my Cleland 205). Could do with a bit more grip in the corners as it is a bit jittery taking corners at speed, but overall a brilliant buy.

Dan followed me all the way and he said his 106 and mine were about level pegging for alleceration and speed, but I think his is slightly quicker, as he knows and trusts his brakes and sterring more!

Thanks for the info guys, not sure what to do with this motor yet, we shall see.

Off to bed now, up at 6.30 for a Saxo collection from Nottingham.

See you tomorrow!
